That's it. I knew it had 'Cover' in the title, but I forgot.

And this one 80's show that I forget the name of, that had spies hiding as cover models. It's the one that the guy shot himself on set playing with a gun loaded with blanks. Themesong was "I need a Hero"

And, the one I still hum today: The Muppet Show!

That piece was a successful blend of the ST:FC and TOS/TNG themes. I still can't fathom why they went from one crappy pop song to another.

NYPD Blue's theme is an example of a theme song that is perfectly suited to the show. The guy who wrote it knew exactly how to capture New York City in music, with the subway clicking and clacking in the background.

Another one to add to the list: Quincy Jones' marvellous theme track for Ironside —both arrangements. The opening measure is heard through the soundtrack of Kill Bill. 8)

The Gary Shandling Show

Hawaii Five-0 BOOK 'EM DANO!

Best of all is the music to Monday Night Football. What made it truly great was that as the crescendo built up, HO-WARD CO-SELL would introduce the players as only he could:

"Dan 'The Man' Fouts"... Don't try to blitz him. His perspicacious understanding of Don Coryell's Byzantine offense and lightning fast release renders it FU-TILE. He has a plethora -NO! A VERITABLE CORNUCOPIA!- of electrifying targets to throw to. Including... the phenomenal Kellen Winslow! Including... the flamboyant John Jefferson and of course... the venerable Chahlie Joinah!"

or

"Earl 'The Pearl' Campbell... don't try to tackle him one-on-one. It is hopeless. What we have here, Frank and Don is a truly remahkable football playah!"

MNF has sucked more and more since Cosell left the show in 1983. If you didn't see a game he called, you've never seen Monday Night Football.

For songs that are both good and contextually appropriate to the show:

Cowboy Bebop (both Tank! and Real Folk Blues)
Babylon 5
Smallville
West Wing
Rescue Me (Von Bondies rule)
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (both seasons have awesome openers, all the more so for the cool visuals in the opening credits)
X-Files
Law and Order

Ok, it's a movie, but I love the theme to The Godfather.

As far as TV themes go....Beverly Hillbillies wins.

That and the Smurfs...just for being so damn annoying..

La la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la.....

Misfits of Science had a funky 80s rock tune that used to be stuck in my head for quite a while. For some reason I've forgotten all but the closing parts of the music now.

For a heroic, orchestral theme, the Voyagers! music is still playing in my head after all these years.
