On a side note, did anyone notice in the first picture palpy smiling like the whole secnario was a big joke?

It is eerily familiar to his facial expressions in the ROTJ duel between Luke and Vader. I suspect Palpy will taunt either Anakin or Dooku, just like he taunted Luke in ROTJ, depending on whether this scene happens before or after Anakin turns.

That would be a most interesting parallel to ROTJ. Luke being able to overcome that which his father could not.

Obviously. Done wrong, it could prove merely repetitive, of course.

I don't have web space so if anyone else has trouble with the pic post and the enhanced image can find its way to your inbox.

I dont think he would have the DS yet but my Guess would be that he is on the Flagship "Throne room" During the Duel. And Palpy would be taunting Anikin if it is after Padme Dies (Possibly from Dooku)

EPISODE III SPOILERS!!!!

This duel actually takes place in the first 20 minutes of the film, during the opening space battle over Coruscant, the last major engagement of the Clone Wars. Anakin's big turning point and the revealing of Palpatine's true identity of Darth Sidious take place at the film's midpoint, when Anakin kills Mace Windu. Padme dies at the very end of the movie

Not necessarily ... If you have an open strike to the hand, why not hit for the torso or neck or head. It's morte that like a cat and mouse game when the winner it maiming the loser, toying with him befor the killing blow.

With anakin being on the verge of turning evil it is quite likely he would prefer to toy with his enemy than end him cleanly. it is the evil thing to do afterall...

Wow. That's really a letdown on the dooku front. He's a Sith Lord. Even in defeat, they shouldn't be cowering.

Aren't you forgetting? Anakin isn't evil. He is posessed by the dark side </Lucas' steaming shit from OT DVDs>

When will they learn to put a basket guard or even a crossbar on those lightsabers?

*groan*

You had to remind me of the reason he justified of why we saw Hayden's ghost instead of Shaw's.

Urgh.

Still I hope for some lines similar to RoTJ thrown in here...especially given how Palpatine is sitting.

Well. To be fair, it seems to be beyond their engineering capabilites. While many things can withstand a glancing lightsabre strike, no forged metal or reasonable weight can withstand a direct blow.

Crossbars and basket guards are not just to protect your hands from the enemy's blade, but also from your own blade...

One would think however that protection from even just a glancing blow would justify such a minor addition to the handle.

Then again, lightsabers may have the attribute of "clinging" or "grabbing" the other blade, while modern day swords can just slide along the another blade quite easily.

The Force does that. Furthermore, a basket guard would be an impediment, given the dynamism of lightsabre styles.

Lightsabers certainly appear to interact in that way. You don't see a lot of sliding along the blade, and when it does, the sound effect often has a sort of stutter effect as if the blades are alternatively catching on one another and being forced free.
