Some form of 40K RP- here and now

It's only a company of them. That's just a hundred space marines, worth only as much as a thousand other troops in combat. Plus the daemons that Black Legion is second only to the Word Bearers for summoning lots of.
Unless, of course, they're lying about their numbers just as much as they are about who they are.
Now, why would Raven Guard be riding around on an Arbites cruiser?

I prepared Explosive Runes today.
I'm figuring that the forces of Light around these parts have roughly two thousand IG on hand, plus how ever many Arbites they can muster... properly placed, a company of CSMs could carve through that like a hot knife through butter. Remember that NL is doing the SMs and CSMs as fluff-capable, not TT-capable.Raxmei wrote:It's only a company of them. And the daemons. The freaking daemons. Thank you, I could've happily not thought about that for half an hour or so...
I'm curious about the Arbites cruiser myself, but they're SMs... they do stuff like that, right?
Edit- Actually, with the Stormtrooper wannabe battalion in place they've got more like 2500 troops on hand, now that I think about it.

Good idea.Raxmei wrote:Personally I'd like to see a witch hunter with an arcoflagellant in tow. The group's heavily unbalanced to the Malleus side right now, and in my humble opinion arcoflagellants are badass (though obviously unplayable on their own).
I don't know very many Ordo Hereticus psychopaths, so I think I'm going to settle on a Tyrus clone in terminator armour.

Hard to say. You've managed to cut yourselves off from the Iron Men remember?
So... Folks. How are your backup characters looking?

We haven't cut ourselves off, we're just insulating our assets so if they turn out ot be heretical, we can turn and descend on them with all the righteous wrath a couple of IG regiments can bring to bear!
That is to say we'll hurt their feelings very badly.
But there's been no overt 'fuck off' sent their way. Of course, what we're doing is quite evident to the Lord Inquisitor, who likely predicted that we would follow this course of action.

Think we can deal with only thirty marines off the bat? Thats the carrying capacity of a TH. Now how potent are these suped up lasguns? Enough to bring a marine down with a headshot on full power? any suped up flamers?

Looks fine to me, Mr. Poopy Pants, but then I'm not the GM.
Thirty marines? Yeah, we could take them... with the usual horrendous casualties that the Guard takes whenever they do anything.
By the way, I think we should do something for the Guard Regiment on the ground to keep Tasoth and Tycho's people occupied. Share the fun, I say. Like say those purge and clean operations on the heretics. Sound good?

Since my squad is tending their equipment in a hangar bay(preferably not the one that Thunderhawk is coming in), would they find anything wrong with the equipment?

Eeeeeh... if this an infiltration squad, probably not.
Edit- My bad, I thought you were eyeballing the inbound CSMs. So far as I know, nothing is wrong with the upgraded weapons.

I'm really wishing I'd finished readin this thread before I made my last post. Oh well, plasma pistols are quite effective against power armour anyway, so I'm not completely helpless... and I did bring ten Stormtroopers along, newly kitted out with improved weaponry.

Okay, here's my thoughts on what's going down. We have three squads of CSMs coming onboard, with the dual objectives of capturing the station and eliminating the inquisitors. They'll move to seize the critical sections- CinC, power plant, etc, only diverting if they can target an inquisitor. Taking out the inquisitors will be their prime mission- they can achieve their goals without the station, but inquisitors could really ruin their day.
In the meantime, the remaining CSMs on the strike cruiser will stage an uncontested landing reasonably far away from any ground forces we have, link up with the surviving Path troopers and prepare to wipe out the forces we have on the ground.
Commodore Severa's wee problem will mean that we can't count on naval security, because at best they'll be misdirected and shuttled into killing zones, at worst they'll be aimed at us.
If IO shows up, it's his turn to create general misery for the group... if not, Pcm and I can handle it.
Sound good?

Remind me... what weapons does a Thunderhawk mount aside from that big Battle Cannon on the underside?
