The first Traitor Marine to emerge was greeted by a plasma bolt to the face, and promptly collapsed into his fellows minus a head. Half a second, later another Marine went down with charred holes burnt most of his torso as two of the Stormtroopers opened fire with plasma guns. Finally, a storm of hellgun fire filled the air around the gunship, and a third of the Black Legion Warriors fell as a lucky shot punched through his eye. That done, the Imperial soldiers dived into cover and waited for the plasma weapons to finish recharging.

The following Traitor Marines were all wearing helmets, so the plasma fire was ineffective. One of them shouldered a rocket launcher and blew away most of the Plasma-equipped soldiers.

A blazing scythe of lascannon fire raked through the defenders as the Chaos marines barrelled out, quickly establishing lines and raking fire at anyone not under cover.

Prius squirmed out from under the body that had fallen across his legs and sat up, then flopped back down as his sense warned him that something bad was about to happen... a bolter round cracked across the space he'd just occupied.

So quick, so very quick... he turned and crawled across the floor as the occupants of the room were cut down in a withering storm of fire.

A sudden burst of static washes across the station's comm systems, isolating the defenders from outside communication.

Adivan and the survivors of his squad winced as they saw the volume of fire being poured out by the Chaos forces. The Thunderhawk's heavy bolters, combined with the weapons carried by the Traitor Marines themselves, were making it virtually impossible to survive outside cover... and, worse, they were rapidly eating away at what cover existed. Adivan groped briefly with TK, searching for something to apply it to... and found it in the form of one Chaos Marine's boltgun. A brief application of force, and every shell in the clip detonated, taking the wielder's arms off at the elbows.

He smiled triumphantly at that, but it was a brief smile; most of their cover was gone, and the Chaos assault was rapidly and efficiently slaughtering most everyone in the bay. When he ehard Pater's shouted retreat order, he fuly agreed, and began pulling out all the Blind Grenades he had. Catching on, the surviving Stormtroopers did the same, and hurled them out into the open, creating a dense, opaque fog between the Chaos froces and the exit. It wouldn't block enemy fire, but it would render it less accurate, and that might save them. As the last grenades detonated, they ran.

Prius made sure that Pater left before him, then bailed under the cover of the grenades.

Six Stormtroopers, plus Adivan and then Captain, had begun running. Four of them were cut down on the way, splattered across the nearby walls floor and soldiers by boltgun shells. Only one of the plasma gunners made it out.

Pater flinched as the burst of static materialised inside his head. Stupid integrated comm system. He was disorientated for a moment, and blindly followed everyone else of of the docking bay. Someone keyed the door override and they slammed shut; It would only be moments before the Traitor Marines broke through the door.

Prius shoved Pater through the door as one of the stormtroopers keyed the override. The chaos marines were already firing on the door as they made it through, and several fragments sliced into them before it closed.

"Is there anybody here who has any contact with the rest of this ship?"

The Traitor Leader, clad in Terminator armour, spoke in a rumbling tone. "This is your first and last chance, Servants of the False Emperor; Surrender and die an almost painless death."

Prius switched on his commbead, only to find out why everyone else had been wincing and grabbing their ears... he switched it off.

"We're jammed. We can't hold here... we have to get reinforcements." he announced tensely.

Pater couldn't hear the rest of them. "What?" He yelled, loudly.

"Very well. You have chosen painful death."
The Traitor Marines opened fire on the docking bay door; It started melting almost at once.

Prius shoved Pater away, trying to remember where the nearest concentration of troops were... the arbites... yes, the arbites.

Behind them, the door slagged, gobbets of molten metal spraying throughout the corridor.

"Quite, Colonel-Commissar. We need to pull back, get away from this jamming, and alert the station. Thirty Traitor Marines will never overcome the crew of this vessel if they know what's happening, but with surprise, they could easily take the bridge and shut the whole station down."

"Incidentally..." as the first hole appeared in the door, Adivan snapped his plasma pistol around, and, hardly seeming to aim, put a blazing plasma bolt straight through it. A scream from the other side indicated it had found a target.

"Now, let's get out of here."

"The arbites are this way... we can send runners to inform the command staff to organize the rest of the station's defenses and begin delying them," he tells Adivan.

One of the Traitor Marines recoiled as a burn etched it's way into his armour. "I want that one's head."
"You shall have it, my pet. Increase fire."

Pater's head seemed to be clearing. "Sorry. Men, fall back. Pattern 12-Gamma."

Prius gestured at Pater to follow them. In answer to Adivan's insolent shot, a pair of rockets slam into the molten doors, one penetrating through to detonate against the wall opposite the door, the other detonating in the molten mass of metal...

Sgt. Slate's crew quickly fanned out into a standard retreating pattern for use when under heavy fire.

"Grrr. I grow tired of this."
The monster held out his hand, and the doors exploded outwards...

The molten slag sprayed every which way, and a hail of grenades followed it, bouncing down the corridors propelled by the mighty strength of the armored marines...

Pater waved his force staff, and the molten metal and grenades skittered away.

The Monster ignited a corrupted power blade and strode down the corridor, soaking up all shots fired at it.

Prius felt his stomach churn at the sight of the monstrous warrior, the chaotic glyphs writhing on his armor. He raised his plasma pistol, snapping off a shot to no effect... the beast intercepted his bolt with a seemingly effortless swipe of his blade.
