"Pater, does that Psycannon of yours have any ammo in it?" Adivan asked, snapping off another futile shot from his plasma pistol.

There was an fire from the docking bay, and suddenly air began sucking out of the corridor as the docking bay door was breached, opening the area to space...

Another door began closing behind them. "Throne!" They ran against the sucking force to get under it in time...

Prius rolled under the emergency door, wondering briefly just how long this one would last.

His last sight under the door was the feet of space marines, pounding in the opposite directioni... a multi-pronged assault calculated to capture critical station functions, he assumed.

Klaxons wailed throughout the station insistently, while the panicked voice of a servitor announced intruders. "Arbites! Guardsmen! Form up, we're moving out!" Xerxes ordered. The Guardsmen looked confused for a moment, not accustomed to recieving orders from a Judge. But the sergeant shrugged. "You heard the Judge, on your feet!" Xerxes' arbites had already filed up for a brief inspection. He strode down the line hurriedly, giving each trooper only a cursory glance. He knew they were ready. Xerxes hefted the orngate hellgun he had 'commandeered' and slapped a power cell into the handgrip, then sealed his helmet. "For Terra, Arbites!" The Arbites rushed out of the armoury, hearts hardened and guns ready, followed closely by the Guardsmen.

Prius shoved a stormtrooper past him. "Go!" he yelled. They had to get moving, get the defenses alerted, and acquire themselves some vac suits. The prospects of fighting in clumsy, unarmored vac suits was highly unappealing, but...

Axidus flipped the half-melted corpse over, studying it briefly. "No!" he called out, kicking it away. Apparently they hadn't managed to kill a single inquisitor in the docking bay shootout... their lord was going to be most displeased if they didn't produce for him him some inquisitorial corpses, and soon.

The chaos marines made their way through the station in a methodical storm of steel, taking care to vent each section they reached into vacuum. One squad was proceeding toward the enginarium, while another proceeded for the command center. The final squad seemed to be looking for... something.

As the Inquisitorial contigent retreated through the station, Adivan stopped by his current quarters to collect the weaponry he had left behind, and handed what he could not carry out to the rest. For himself, he grabbed another plasma pistol, his new-and-improved combiweapon (using an enhanced boltgun and meltagun), his helmet, and a storm shield; for others, there were more meltas and plasma guns, along with an assortment of other weapons.

"Feth! They're overruning us here! Someone, please-" Xerxes' micro-bead went dead. "Junction 56-C is down. They're not too far from the command center. Hoof it, Arbites!" They ran at breakneck speed through a bewildering maze of corridors, lit only by the glaring red-orange light of emergency lighting. They passed underneath a doorway with a sign proclaiming the command center to be one junction down.

"Come on, boys! Almost there!" They emerged into a huge domed chamber, covered from top to bottom in display screens and control panels. A dozen or so Tech-Adepts and Segmentum Pacificus officers were busily welding the main entrance shut with a power-torch and blockading it with computer consoles.

"Get that stubber set up somewhere good! Demo, I want a melta planted here in case they break through. Even if we fail, we'll take those fething traitors with us. The rest of you, set up firepoints on the double!" The Guardsmen and Arbites spread out across the chamber, setting up fields of fire on the doorway. Xerxes' stubber was planted on one of the upper walkways, partially shielded by a spare bulkhead plate one of the Tech-Adepts must have pulled out of storage and forgot to install.

They heard the rumbling of feet outside the entrance, and then the high-pitched whine of a chainsword trying to cut through. "You down there, get the fuck away from the door!" Xerxes yelled over to the rag-tag work crew. The chainsword whine stopped, and he heard the staccato bursts of a dozen bolters. A wave of bolter rounds flew through the door like it was wet paper, turning those unfortunate enough to be standing in front of it into puddles of flesh and blood. The Traitor Marines must have brought a power-torch with them, because a moment later the door was melting, folding down upon itself in sheets of white-hot metal. "Full auto on the hellguns, Arbites! Max power shots! We're not saving the ammo for anything!"

Pater looked at Adivan. "We need to secure the command center and the enginarium, that's what they'll target."

Prius nodded as Pater continued. "The commissar and I will move up to bravo deck and try to locate inquisitors Talstrem and Gix, while you move to secure the enginarium. Agreed?"

The molten door explodes suddenly erupts inward, away from the defenders, as the compartment begins to explosively decompress. The space marines are unperturbed by mere slag and fire a barrage through the doorway, followed by a healthy wave of grenades as the air finishes venting...

"Agreed. Captain Fortis, how far is it to where the rest of your men are barracked?"

The Guard officer pondered briefly, then pointed.

"Down that way... maybe two, three minutes at a run... and it's not too far out of our way to the enginarium."

"Excellent. We shall collect them, then head for the enginarium. Hopefully, we can hold a single enemy squad off long enough to stall their offensive. LEt's go!"

Pausing briefly to grab some more upgraded weapons for the rest of the platoon, Adivan and the Stormtroopers set off at a dead run.

The squad detailed to taking over the enginarium was taking the direct approaching, blasting walls out of the way with meltabombs as they carved a straight-line path toward their objective.

Some few naval armsmen had mustered in local defense, but were quickly cut down as their shotcannons proved ineffectual against the Chaos warriors' armor. Weapons designed to minimize the risk of hull breaches were a poor choice of armament in this situation...

Owing to their detour, Adivan and his stormtroopers platoon arrived outside the enginarium only just before the eight-strong squad of Traitor Marines. As they hurried inside, the rear-guard squad exchanged some fire with the two leading Marines; three Stormtroopers died, while one of the enmy Marines was injured. Before the shootout proceeded any further, the last of the Stormtroopers withdrew inside the enginarium, and the blast doors slammed shut.

Inside, the handful of naval troopers inside had been preparing to make a last, suicidal defense against the Chaos forces; now bolstered by the arrival of over thirty heavily-armed Stormtroopers, their confidence was raised somewhat. As the Chaos marines began blasting through the heavy door, the Stormtroopers took cover behind makeshift barricades, turned their weapons to full-power and single-shot, and trained them on the doors. The first Marine through would, in the millisecond of life remaining to him, be confronted by the barrels of over twenty hellguns and at least a dozen meltas and plasma guns...

The enginarium was normally a place of throbbing noise and activity, the ancient power plants tended by an army of tech-priests and naval ratings. However, as the compartment was depressurized, the only sensation was the constant vibration that transmitted itself through the suits of the defenders bootsoles. Time seemed to stretch out to eternity as they waited nervously, weapons trained on the doors, when suddenly multiple spots along the wall began melting...

The naval armsmen, having expected an attack through the doors themselves, spent several precious seconds dithering at this new development. The Stormtroopers were another matter. A few clipped orders over microbead commlinks, and they rapidly shifted their aim to those sections of the walls now glowing white-hot., with every spot having at least one plasma gun, one meltagun, and two fully-charged hellguns trained on it, ready to fire when the enemy finally broke though.

Prius and Pater looked up from the fabricarium they had been pinned down behind in one of the station's many machining shops as Nathan made his dramatic entrance.

"The Emperor provides," Pater said dryly as the heavy weapons squad entered in the wake of his fellow inquisitor.

"So he does," Prius said.

As they were speaking, gravity suddenly failed across the station...

Jolan Gix inadvertently launched himself into the air as gravity failed in mid step. The inquisitor grinned like a shark. His telekinetic abilities had some very useful applications in zero gee. Behind him Severa hustled along the floor as the inquisitor flew through the air. Her bolter was clenched tightly in her hands and her navy boots had built in magnetics for these kind of circumstances. If only they could meet up with a naval security team, they could mount a push into the Traitor's flanks.

Pater took advantage of the loss of gravity by grabbing onto the side of the machinery he was hiding behind, twirling himself over with an adept twist, firing a Psycannon shot at a momentarily floundering Chaos Space Marine and pulling himself back behind it.

The marines quickly recovered from their confusion, opening fire on Nathan with a volley of bolters and a plasma gun.

Prius quickly activated the mag clamps on his boots, locking his feet into position. Zero g... he hated zero g, going back to training. At least his augmetic stomach wasn't likely to react so poorly to it as his real one had...

The Monster, Sorceror-Lord Mortragor of the Black Legion, worthy of Chaos Undivided, found the strong Psy-emenations coming from the Inquisitors. Time to put an end to that. One of the defenders screamed, exploded and gave birth to a Daemon, which flushed the defenders out of cover with Pink Fire.

"Frakking hell!" Prius yelled as the daemon was born right frakking next to him. He twisted, firing a shot that missed the daemon narrowly, as his other gauntleted hand fumbled out his energy sword.
