Breakthru, by Queen.

That song pretty much summed up how I felt about a girl a couple of years ago. Of course, she already had a boyfriend, and is now living over a hundred miles away... we're still friends... but I miss her so damn much it hurts.

"Scenes from an Italian Resturant"

This was Sue's and my favorite song. We met up for dinner a few years ago
where she dropped the news that shortly before her huband proposed to her, she wanted to get back together with me. The only reason she didn't mention it then was that I was involved with someone else (came close to getting married to actually).

As I sat there somewhat stunned, the song began playing over the restuarant sound system. We both smiled and laughed a little at the coincidence and then had a drink to what might have been.

Quite a few drinks really.......

Even though we rarely talk these days, I consider her one of the best friends I ever had.

RadiO wrote:"How Soon is Now?" - The Smiths track even people who hate The Smiths enjoy. The lyrics... I'm only ever dimly aware of them when I listen to it, because the music is so awesome. It's simultaniously menacing, sad and uplifting.
I find that song depressing.

*turns to a puddle of goop at the sweetness of this post*

Rebecca is a lucky woman. I hope to end up with someone who has such memories of me. Seriously, that is lovely. I couldn't let this thread go to sleep without saying that, romantic that I am. And having Foreigner playing in the background--ahh, just like a movie. A fabulous, girlie, romantic chick movie. Que bella. :)

I can't really think of any songs which hold special meaning for me, but then I am a sad, lonely bastard, so there isn't much potential for meaning to begin with.

Oh, come now, that can't be. There aren't any songs that speak to you? Not even a bit? Not even Tool? Maynard's lyrics can be a bit sad and lonely too... :( Nothing that mirrors how you sometimes feel?

I didn't say that there are none, just that I can't think of any right now.

And just to clarify: By sad and lonely I mean that I don't interact with people very often. I'm quite happy with the way I am right now. I don't feel a need to be around people, and loneliness, sadness and depression are rare and almost always mild and short-lived.

Sorry, guess I misread that. I thought you meant you can't think of them ever.

But if you're happy with how you are, why would you think to use the words 'sad and lonely' to describe yourself? *confused* Because you think that's what other people think of you?

Dunno. It was just the first thing to strike me, so that's what I said.

For me: Yesterday and Elanor Rigby by the Beatles, especially back when my depression was at its worst.

Misguided Angel by the Cowboy Junkies, from the Trinity Session CD. It's a cool little lovesong that feels like it was written in another age far before my time. Slow, sad but uplifting at the same time, it's perfect music for putting my mind at ease at any time. The whole album is like a timewarp from the 50's, and brings to mind images of "the good old days". It was recorded in a Toronto church right behind a major shopping mall in 1988, really amazing stuff.[/i]

Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either. :P
