Fox asks adoptees 'Who's Your Daddy?'

Post by dr. what »

Family reunion is the next area being delved into by the reality genre.

US network FOX has announced plans for an "extraordinary" special which will see a girl, adopted at birth, attempting to pick out her biological father from eight paternal candidates.

Who's Your Daddy?, due to air January 3, will feature an obligatory twist: $100,000 will be hers if she guesses right. If she makes the wrong choice, the imposter walks away with the money.

FOX has been particularly bold with pioneering new reality shows in recent years. Former controversies include The Littlest Groom, a dating show for dwarves; Man versus Beast, a series of Olympic-style events between men and animals; and Married By America, an interactive show which saw viewers play cupid and pick out two singles to wed.

I dated a girl once who was adopted and didn't know her biological parents. It was a very serious emotional thing for her, very complicated, and complicated for her adopted parents as well. Having known her and seen what it's like for her and her family, this just makes me ill.

Yup, those lefties are responsible for degrading American values.

I think Murdoch would sell babies' blood if he thought it'd be highly profitable.

Has Fox not realized that their risqué reality tv shows usually end up being floopers? You would think that after the umpteenth time, they had gotten the message that these kinds of reality tv show often don't have much staying power. Fox reality tv is serouslly lacking some creativity, not to mention ethics/morals.

This is incredibly offensive, even for Fox.

Oh joy. As if we didn't need more signs that this country was a shadow of what I was told I was entering, so long ago.

Why would someone voluntarily subject herself to this? Does this woman have no self-respect?

Betcha ten bucks she will be an attractive blonde.

I've thought about this before, but never this hard or this much in vain: When does shit like this happen in real life? After all, it is reality TV.

Sadly, yes. Jon Stewart was talking about it a while ago. Apparently Barbra Walters was the host.

Never underestimate the simple desire to be on TV and get cash. for such things many will sell their soul to Murdoch. It's stupid, It's pathetic but it's the world we live in.
From a review of the two Towers.... 'As for Gimli being comic relief, what if your comic relief had a huge axe and fells dozens of Orcs? That's a pretty cool comic relief. '

No they didn't. Walters hosted a 20/20 gig where they followed a pregnat mother through an open adoption and treated it like it was a reality TV show. Sensational journalism at its finest.

If anyone ever wonders what the price of human dignity is they know Fox has the answer.
Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes.

I cant believe that shit.
I'm adopted and I would never even consider going NEAR such a concept. Ugh.

I accept your bet.

Now give me ten bucks, because the girl in question here is an attractive redhead instead (I read about this in the morning paper and was sickened, though the girl is quite fit).

It's in poor taste, and I won't watch it, but as long as everyone involved has agreed to it and the girl thinks it's worth it, I won't stop them from airing it.

Hell, lower that barrel bottom a bit more, if you want. I won't watch *this* crap, but go ahead and give me a call when you get the bottom of the barrel low enough to allow Fox to air hardcore porn at prime time.

If they can find subjects for the Jerry Springer Show I'm sure they can find them for this.

While I'm not figuring on made-for-TV blood sports just yet, I am waiting for somebody to get killed in one of these dumbass shows and have the network promo it to heaven.

I'm not saying they'll deliberately kill somebody, but when some idiot in Fear Survivor Brother Bachelorette Paris Resort gets their idiot ass killed, they know damn good and well it'll be a ratings bonanza.

I've never seen an episode of Survivor, but I remember well how it was in all the papers after that guy roasted himself cooking a pig in the second or third season.
