At my school, we celebrate Christmas with a trenchball tournament (like dodgeball, but cooler). That is much cooler than a Christmas play, and completely secular. These people need common sense, but barring that, they could try thinking up something completely different.

Why even give kids time off for Christmas when they are celebrating it in the schools? Yeah I know parties are fun, but there's a lot that's got to be taught and the schools only have so many days per year to do it in.

It's the Take-'Em-Down-With-You mindset: viewing the removal of the nativity as an attempt to destroy the teaching of Christianity in the schools, their natural reaction was to see to it that nothing gets taught in the schools.

After all, what good, deep Christian would let the Aethiest heratics continue to teach their blasphemous lessons after knowledge of the son of the One True God was denied from their children? Certainly not these.

When I went, we maybe spent a day celebrating Christmas, though we might have learned a tiny bit during that. It wasn't really celebrating Christmas in schools. Though personally I don't think any school I went to had a Christmas play.

The higher in grades you get, it'd really suck not to have a winter break. Going through the full year in high school without any break in the middle of the year besides summer would be burn out.
