Sensing imminent threat, he had already begun scrambling as the flashbang landed.
Five targets. One moving to the right end of the statue. He bounced up, bouncing over the low statue as the flashbang detonated behind him, rattling his eardrums thoroughly.
From his left hand the energy sword flashed, slashing toward the arbites who had been moving to flank him. His other hand triggered a shot from the plasma pistol in the general direction of the others, hitting nothing but giving them something to think about.
The final part of his motion put the arbiter between him and the others, the energy blade shearing through his neck. The body lurched toward him, impelled by the shots striking it in the back.

At about that point, Prius heard Adivan's voice over his vox unit.
"Commissar, this is Adivan. You need any help over there?"
"Commissar, this is Adivan. You need any help over there?"
"The bird let out a slow chicken cackle. It sounded like a chicken, but in her heart she knew it wasn't. In that instant, she completely understood the concept of a chicken that was not a chicken. This looked like a chicken, like most of the Mud People's chickens. But this was no chicken.

It was the Arbites' turn to find cover.
"Shitshitshitshit!"
"Quiet."
"What the hell is that crap?"
"QUIET! Call for reinforcements."
"None, Sir."
"Any more Flashbangs?"
"Four, sir."
"Alright."
This time 2 flashbangs landed near Prius, one on either side of him. The Arbites fired along the path they thought he'd be forced to take...

DANGER flashed through his mind, a sense of it as strong as when he faced the chaos marines in the hydranium. As he bolted away from the flashbangs, his augmetic arm shielding his head, a two shots landed, one blast of pellets hitting him in the side, spalling off the augmetic organs that replaced most of his meat organs.
The other impacts slammed the augmetic arm into the side of his head, but most of the pellets richocheted away from the durable material.
Unfortunately, the plasma pistol was also struck. As he staggered behind another statue and sank to his knees, he noted with alarm that the plasma pistol was making ominous noises, heating up, and starting to spark. He lobbed it as hard as he could toward the arbites, falling backwards in the process.
Rolling to his side, he pulled out his vox.
"Ristani... they are... resisting. Assistance... required."

"Throne!"
"Run!"
BOOOOOOOM.
Only 3 left. They don't have anything to lose, however; They threw their last Flashbang and advanced quickly.
---------------------------------
Pater snapped his fingers and Gork and Mork looked at him with all their attention.
"Follow me." He turned to Adivan. "I'm going around the back."

He rolled away, coming to his feet next to the corpse of one of the fallen arbitors, snagging the shotgun on the way. He braced it in the crook of his augmetic arm and fired.
Two targets left. Incredible shot.
The Emperor is with me.
Sidestepping, he aimed the shotgun again, calling out again with his psyk-voice.
"Stand down in the name of the Inquisition!"

He staggered a bit, blood leaking from his stomach wound.
"I appear to have overestimated the opposition..." he said. "My apologies... I will proceed."
Resheathing his energy sword, he laid the shotgun across his shoulder and stagger/lurch/limped toward the grounded arbites.
"Again... in the name of the Most... Holy Inquisition... you will escort me inside."

"Acknowledged. Hang on."
Adivan grimaced as he broke the connection, nodding at Pater as he did so.
"I'll take the front."
As he set off for the Arbites Precinct, he switched channels on his suit's vox unit. Time to call on Captain Fortis' Stormtroopers again.
"Lieutenant Grayson, this is Adivan. Do you copy?"
A curt affirmative came back.
"Yes, Inquisitor. What is it?"
"Trouble over at the Arbites Precinct. I want you to get together all the men you can spare and head over there on the double. Colonel-Commissar Prius requires some assistance. When you arrive, any Arbites personnel who continue to resist are to be executed. Those who surrender to you are to be spared, but put them under arrest."
There was a second's pause before Grayson replied.
"Affirmative. We'll be there as soon as we can."
Right, that's done with... now for stage two.
A quick cal to the Stafort's bridge got patched through the address system of the Arbites Precinct, and his voice boomed out over the combatants.
"This is Inquisitor Raul Adivan of the Ordo Hereticus. Commissar Prius is here on the orders of the Most Holy Emperor's Inquisition. All who disboey his orders shall be summarily executed, in the Emperor's name. You have been warned."

Minutes later, the entire Arbites precinct was under the control of a large number of Inquisitorial Stormtroopers.
It actually couldn't have come off better. Pater thought. Well... He glanced at Prius, who was wobbling like a leaf in the wind but refusing to even sit down.
Never mind. The man seems to attract metal to his body like he's magnetic anyway.

Prius stomped... or stagger/limped, more precisely, to the Chief Judges office, shotgun still over his shoulder.
"By order of the Inquisition, I would speak to the Chief Judge," he declared to the Judge's secretary while he leaked blood over the immaculate carpet.
The wounds were healing, his system protesting at the fact that he rarely bothered to take the time to heal anything properly.

He blinked. Other than a bit of lightheadedness and excruciating pain, all was well.
Then again, he wasn't so sure of his ability to stay standing upright. Something was wrong internally, perhaps one of the augmetics was damaged. He wasn't sure what was wrong, but he knew it was.
Yes, he decided as dizziness struck, sitting down might be a good idea after all.
He made his way over to a seat, plopping down in it heavily. He laid the shotgun across his lap, ready to use it if called upon.

Adivan arrived at the Precinct just in time to seethat everything was under control, and notice the half-dozen or so smouldering corpses Prius had left in his wake. He was joining Pater and Prius outside the Chief Judge's office when he heard Natahn's question.
"Well, we sent Prius over to take charge of the Arbites Precinct... apparently some of them took exception to that, and we had to settle the argument violently. I think they've got the emssage now; probably has something to do with the large number of hellgun-wielding Stormtroopers occupying the place. We're about to see the Chief Judge."

"You're welcome. What happened, anyway? All I sensed was that there was a fight going on, not the reason for it."

"They were under the impression that I was required to submit to their authority and standing within the law. When I corrected this impression as per Inquisitor Gix's orders, they objected violently, and I was forced to resort to punitive measures. Six Judges thus far have been given the Emperor's Final Absolution by my hand. I am unaware if any others have been delivered into His grace since the stormtroopers arrived."

"I don't know either. I'll ask Lieutenant Grayson after we're finished here. Let's hope there will be no further need for such measures after this little... discussion."

He shrugged. By his lights, death at the hands of the Commissariat or Inquisition is the only way the treacherous shirker or apostate can be delivered into the Emperor's grace. His killings outside delivered the Emperor's eternal mercy upon those who will, if not sit by His side in the eternity to come, at least fade to darkness rather than be consumed by the warp.
He looked at the secretary.
"Where is the Judge, and why has he not come out to speak with us?"

"Ok, so now who do we ask about Xerxes? If you recall, his disappearance was the reason for this little bloodbath."

He shrugged. "His soul will feed the daemons of the warp, the only fitting fate for the coward. Inquisitor, I would recommend a wholesale decimation of this arbites branch, in the fashion of the Guard... one Judge in ten in each battalion."
He looked at the Judges standing nearby. "For a beginning. And we will have our answers, this I guarantee."
