Even if they are, his attitude and comments are extremely rude to the fanbase as a whole.

I agree with those who say that "hating Pablo" is probably the wrong terminology. I prefer the word "despise"

On a more serious note, he strikes me as someone who thinks it's just hilarious to use his position to poke fun at technically minded fans. I have the feeling that his attitude toward such fans is not so much hatred as the same kind of confusion that a high-school jock experiences when he hears a pair of science guys talking about something: he doesn't understand what they're talking about, he's not really capable of conversing on that level, so he tries to laugh it off by mocking them and getting others to mock them as well.

Hey Mike, remember that scene in "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" where the high school jock is stumbling through his history final, then simply stops and yells (his high school) Football RULES! And then the entire auditorium cheers him off the stage? :D

What gets me is that Hidalgo's current vitriolic stance seems somewhat contradictory to his past employment at West End Games. If I recall correctly, he's kind of mocking the exact kind of stuff he used to do, which I think included ship design and profile authoring.

Ah, there's the rub. Now that those WEG stats are being corrected, he's being a turd. What does that tell you?

Yes, Hidalgo's behavior is hardly principled: this guy used to be a SW nerd who had obsessive-compulsively pedantic fan projects of his own, and penned WEG make-shit-up stats.

He's only pissed off at techies because they call his work trash (which it is) and provide an objective means of challenging the decisions on the Ranch.

Reading the old thread here, and the one on the SW.com forums brought back some memories.

I said it before this little cum stain has 'brain envy' plain and simple.

I also loved how all his 'defenders' would jump into the thread with 'it's just a movie!' and my standard response to all of them; 'You don't jump into threads titled 'Who is Jaina going to end up with?', 'Who is the best swordsman?' or 'Is Kyp more powerful than Luke?' and yell 'it's just a movie!' there ... Are you trolling?'

Strangely, I never got a reply from any of them... :?

So reading these pages of Pablo's, I am left wondering-- if he answers a question with an "in-story" answer that stays within the technical acceptance of canon, then do we accept hius answer as canon as well?

For example: a fan asks why a dying Zam Wesell speaks Huttese. PH explaines that Huttese is very common, was popular even before the Old Rep, and it became the basis for a lot of other trade languages. As Basic became the galactic standard language, Huttese continued in fringe communities and the Outer Rim.

So to the best of my knowledge, this isn't explained anywhere else, so PH is supplying this answer that does not challenge established canon (AFAIK) or wave it off as "she speaks Huttese because the script said so".

So, since he does seem to be giving "good" advice this time, do we accept this into canon?
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!

I'd hazard to say that just because he's done something we don't like in the past doesn't mean he can't be "correct" once in a while.

After all, "even a broken clock is right twice a day" right? ; )

In this particular case I have no idea, I'm just saying.

Considering that the poll he started showed that they make up well over a quarter of the fanbase, I doubt it.
