I personally haven't gotten anything over 1.5 gigs per torrent, but I know lots of people who download entire seasons... of shows... crazy.

Fine. Shut down all the trackers you can find (via traffic analysis if you need to) and search sites.

What do you mean? Thats one of the easiest things in the world with BT, do it all the time myself, too bad I've been lacking a DVD burner, otherwise I would have had the entire stargate and buffy and angel series on DVD.

err. you -can- buy a dvd burner for about $100 bucks now if you go cheap. . .not that i'm recommending it to do anything illegal mind you. *coughs*

To be honest I only really use Bittorrent to download Mystery Science Theater 3000 episodes and the occasional bit of porn.

I've got one(NEC ND-3500), all those other things happened before I got one and I seriously did not have anywhere near the space to store more than one season of any show for any length of time.

Less than that, and you don't even have to go el cheapo. You can get an NEC 16X double layer from Newegg for like $65 right now.

Fuckers trying to bust BitTorrent, even here at Finland the damn cops have taken down the biggest Finnish Torrent site (though I figure that will be pretty much everything they will do in regards to P2P filesharing). Oh well, considering how massive BitTorrent is, and how a certain Suprnova just seems to be laughing at the moment for the MPAA's best efforts, I dont see BT dying anytime soon.

As anyone knows, porn comprise the largest component of websites and websearches.

So...... anyone want to hazard how much of this potential is porn and anime? Its gotten to the point than other than suprenova and several other sites which feature mostly American shows(not that these aren't what I want to download), the remaining BT sites I find are mostly porn and anime..............................

And forums are great.... for showing new stuff only.

(P.S) Anyone knows sites where I can download MTV eps and Japanese shows/photobooks DVDs?

Well I'd guess the majority of the "volume" is not porn acutally. Consider how easy it is to get porn and the average sizes of the downloaded files. I'd say beteween games(1-3gigs average) and feature length movies(800-1200 megs average?) it's in the minority. The next step, obviously, is to cut out the "middle man", in this case sites like suprnova. Now I have no idea how this would be done, but I'm sure someone will figure out a good way...

If they do shut down Bittorrent, there's always DC and DC++, and good luck on shutting down all hubs on that.

I dislike DC and DC++ myself, always had bad experiences with them, you have to share assloads of files to even get into a fucking hub, which means people can DL from you all the time, eff that, much prefer BT.

Average internet traffic in Finland went down about 20% - 25% after the bust of biggest finnish torrent site. Of course the traffic wasn't caused by that site only but lots of users got scared and stopped using torrents... at least for a while. Some sites closed voluntarily due to threat of getting caught.

Total traffic stats:

Oh goddamnit. I just discovered the wonder of Bit Torrent two weeks ago, and now they're going to try and shut it down. Just my luck.

Probably they're just playing wild guess and taking random samples, instead of monitoring *every* single traffic.

Same for me. You have to share a shitload of stuff, the waiting is usually long and most of the time the speeds at which you can get stuff from other users is absolutely pathetic. None of these problems persist with BT. Not to mention the fact that in DC++, often if you begin to download a movie and the user who you were DL:ing it from leaves, you cant continue it due to to the fact that if you find the movie on another user, it has a different name.

With suprnova gone it seems like torrents are going to start going into decline. So what next?

There will be new sites. Torrent is simply too good of a P2P program for it to start decline like that. Places like Filelist seem like they can easilly become the next big player site.

There are shitloads of sites, I've actually hardly ever used suprnova lately.

It would be a disaster if links to some of these sites somehow ended up in my PM box. Because I never use BitTorrent.

Oh, much the same here. In fact, if I were to get a PM with a heading "BitTorrent links" I would be forced to read it in order to verify that it wasn't some sort of joke, prior to deleting it, of course.

That's right. If a PM pops up, I will have to go over to the sites in question to personally monitor any possible illegal activity.

Would it have anything to do with Suprnova apparently going down for good?

Oh yeah, and I'd hate to see Bit Torrent URL's in my PM box as well.

I suppose said links fall under the category of:
"No Warez"

It would be a cryin' shame, however, if I were to find such links in my pm box; I think I'd have to report these sites to some authority who would know what to do with them. I mean, consider the consequences if this sort of information were to fall into the wrong hands...
