The Y-Wing and B-Wing obviously have different roles. Nothing is going to be technologically better at a particular job in a technologically static civilization unless the weaker vessel was developed and sold on the cheap on purpose.

Well, now here is the clever contrivance. WEG is so damned insistent that Star Destroyers are uber and all that that they specially inserted one Victory. I think it was called Dominator. Watch as those buttholes say this means all Imperials are "larger Star Destroyer"s.

Whatever, that sequence was supposed to be the destruction of the Avenger and ISD MK2, which was supposedly a sequence very similar to what the novelization detailed was the destruction of the communications ship.
