Page Three Girls Cast Adrift By Navy

Pin-ups including posters of Page Three girls have been banned from warships by the Royal Navy, it has been reported.And sailors have also been stopped from bragging about their sex lives, according to The Sun.A code of conduct has been issued to 40,000 sailors, submariners and Royal Marines by Vice Admiral Sir James Burnell-Nugent.

The list of rules includes no "sexually suggestive" pictures or posters, and no boasting about sexual encounters.

It also scuppers sending or receiving saucy text messages.

Sir James drew up the document of 20-pages of rules, called Diversity, Equality and You, aimed at avoiding causing offence among the shipmates.

A senior officer told The Sun: "We don't want to offend anyone, especially members of the fairer sex in the Royal Navy."

And the Ministry of Defence insisted it is only "interpreting rules which apply to all Government property".

But an outraged sailor told the paper: "If you've been at sea for six weeks and you go on a run ashore and get lucky with a girl, does it mean you can't now go back on board and tell your mates, 'I pulled last night'?"

*mutter* Now keep in mind I was a Marine for the United States and have no real knowledge of the Royal Navy's demographics break down.

But when I was on ship, there were 2 female sailors and maybe about 14 female marines... Out of 400 more or less. The females had seperate berthings. Now while sexual harrassment should not be allowed, hwo the hell is something slapped up in a male berthing, where females aren't suppose to go anyways sexual harassment? And what the fuck does telling them they can't talk about sex do?

God Forbid we handle this like adults I see.

On the flip side, if the ladies have a poster of a half naked muslcle guy does that mean us guys can scream foul over it?

This is similar to the Forces-wide policy in the Canadian Forces. We were not able to have girls pinned up in our lockers or to read porn in our tents on exercises. It applied to both sexes though, and the girls had to take the pics of guys of their lockers.

I've had a few beers onboard ship. Of course they were provided by the command because we'd been out to see for so damn long.

Anyway, on the one hand I don't mind the idea of having regs about not bragging about your sexual conquests. I got sooo damn tired of hearing everyone's sea stories about boozing and banging. A lot of guys, that was all that they were interested in and not only did they do some pretty twisted shit they were often pretty cruel to women. People having contests over who could land and fuck the fatest chick (aka. "hogging") that night for instance. Having to hear everyone's P.I. stories, or guys talking about the tightness of 12 year old prostitutes in Italy. I don't need to hear that crap.

Obviously the talk isn't going to go away just because of some new rules. It might be pushed back to more reasonable levels but it'll still be around. I mean, we were told in boot that the Navy didn't want people to swear any more and that was 15 years ago.

My last ship the ship's Chaplain had already pushed for no nudie mags in the ship's store or the public display of sexist material. People could still get their own subscriptions mailed to them, and there was plenty of porn making the rounds, but he was trying to clean things up. This this was before women deployed on carriers. On my previous ship the only thing riské they had for sale in the ship's store was Playboy.
