Just to shed some light on this matter, especially for US inhabitants

About Enterprise, after visiting http://www.firtstvdrama.com .... (here we go again...)

How is it possible that B(eavis) & B(utthead) could destroy the franchise without any reprisals?
Does Paramount care about the people that watch it's shows?
Is the US public getting dumber, allowing for this kind of thing?
Is it just a big Hollywood conspiracy?

Don't they see the real world? Where things are supposed to make sense. (Oh yes, this is science-FICTION! Silly of me!

)

2: No. Their shows are cash cows

1. Because they are still raking in the cash. They simply haven't alienated enough fans. And they have replaced most of those, albiet with a much dumber demographic. The problem is the lowest common denominator works.

2. Paramount doesn't give a shit and neither do B&B. As long as they make the money they don't care. It's not a labor of love so they don''t give a damn. Unlike Roddenberry, the Farscape team or JMS.

3. Yes. Look at the rest of popular culture. Star Trek is merely being dragged along as western popular culture circles the drain.

4. Nope, just a bunch of people that don't give a damn as long as the money is flowing.

Of course, how would we fare as the crew of a starship? Looking at some of the debates we've had (and we being general, not me and Fax or any particular combination of people), we'd be hard pressed to avoid some really stupid-looking debates. Not as bad as B&B, but still stupid.

3) Probably, but not because of it. Remember, Cooking with Emeril was rated higher than Enterprise, and most of the people who watch it religiously live in their mom's basements.

I say it's more because sex appeal pointlessness.

While T'pol does little for me...to horny morons...it's a great magnet, and to some it's this hope that maybe, just maybe it'll get better because they love the ST name so much...personally I quit around late TNG...and only saw bits of DS9 because my friend hyped up this big war.

Trek has gone a long way from TOS.
