HoMaM trilogy question.
On the first CD I remember in the main directory was a file called War.exe. It was a totally streamlined evecutavble and only needed he exe to play. I'm curious if anybody has it or knows what I'm talkign about.
(I'm talking abotu the HoMaM I/II/III/IV(?) set that came out in 98 IIRC.
I remember it was quite fun adn had everythgin a good RPH should have. If anybody knows abotu this, please help.

HoMaM? You mean Heroes of Might and Magic? It was cool, but Age of Wonders was a better franchise, having a similar map mode but a far superior battle mode.
Like Legend of Galactic Heroes? Please contribute to http://gineipaedia.com/

Anyway, was there something with your keyboard, or there's actually a game genre called "RPH"??? Did you mean "Role-Playing *cough*cough*Hhhstrategy*cough*"???
Seriously, though, I don't think there was a HOMM set came out in 98 which had Heroes IV, or even Heroes III[/b]. Never noticed the war.exe, though. What do you mean streamlined? Does the executable just skip the intro, or actually executes faster during the gameplay? Still, I don't think speed is a significant issue in HOMM series (except HOMM IV, which is quite demanding in graphic).

I don't think we can compare the two, though, since HOMM and AoW each has different gameplay at all. While AoW is often mercilessly compared to HOMM in many reviews, actually it's a subtle remake of Master of Magic (Microprose, 1994) instrad of HOMM imitator.Vympel wrote:HoMaM? Yes, one of few trends I like in CG industry is the "remake" of excellent old games (yea I know it's a lower form of creativity but at least it's much better than yet another generic FPS or RTS).

Re: HoMaM trilogy question.
Well. whatever.. it was a three CD set that had HOMM 1, 2. and 3. On the first CD was a single executable called War.exe. I mean all you needed fr o the game was the executable. And yes.. I meant RPG. Quests and everything, including a random world generator IIRC.Kreshna Aryaguna Nurzaman wrote:EDIT

Then it must be published after 1998, at least afterHOMM3 was out on the shelves. Anyway, where did you buy it? What's the exact title, by the way? Where did you buy it? Did it came with expansion packs too? Thx.Zerg Goddess wrote:Well. whatever.. it was a three CD set that had HOMM 1, 2. and 3. On the first CD was a single executable called War.exe. HOMM I also has a copy of King's Bounty. The game rocks! I still remember spending sleepless night in 1991, ignoring less interesting games like "school" and "exam".Vendetta wrote:I don't remember a 'war.exe' on HOMM, but my version (which is from the compendium of HOMM and HOMMII) has a copy of King's Bounty on (the game that HOMM is based on. It does need a few more files than the executable though
Of course, years later, 3DO shamelessly launched a "repackaging" for the PS2....
