Odd Ipod error

Post by Stravo »

I hooked up my Ipod last night and found to my confusion that 22.7 Gigs were already used on the machine yet I hadn't loaded a single song on the machine. The Ipod is the 40Gig version. When I opened up and did a search of the Ipod's contents she was empty, no songs, playlists, etc.

So what the hell? I rebooted several times and sure enough the 22.7 Gigs is still shown as being used. Any ideas what might be going on here. Brand new, out of the box.

My only clue is that when the Ipod was formatting it was running for about an hour and a half. I lost my patience since the instructions said the Ipod would be formatted shortly. I cancelled the formatting and rebooted. The Ipod showed up but there was the 22.7 used Gigs. Could it be that since she hadn't fully formatted that the 'used' gigs are actually unformatted?

Possible.

I'd say reformat the thing as a first step. (stopping a format halfway is always going to upset things)
