Chances your CD drive is dying. I got similar case too few months ago.Enforcer Talen wrote:ok, so I got a stack of cds for christmas, and have been playing them on my comp.

Several things are possible here. The cables might be loose, the drive might be failing, or the drive is incompatible with copy protection on your games. For instance, The Sims 2 and Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines both refuse to be read on my DVD-ROM drive, though they'll work on my CD writer just fine. I'd try the problematic discs in another drive, and if they work there, check the connections on your drive. If that's secure, the drive laser is probably dying.

Check all connections on the back of the drive. If all else fails, get yourself a lens cleaner disk and see if that helps. If that still doesn't fix it, then its your drive going south.
