I think that's one of the goals of the picture... With that guy lying there, we instinctively notice the height, and our brain immediately tries to measure the range from the photo-point to the man. It takes some time indeed for us to notice the shark, most likely after our brain coming to a conclusion about the photo...I was also a bit slow to find the trick

I said it's a goal of the picture. Doesn't mean it works 100% on everyone. It did work, however, with a majority of the posters, so my previous post stands correct

I noticed the shark immediately but what the hell is that in the top right corner? I thought it was someone "flipping the bird" but I am not so sure.
