'No threat' is hardly the initial assumption reached by the denizens of the local Skywatch platforms and the units of the Second Battle Squadron upon the detection of the unknown vessel in orbit of the Sixth's capitol world. Powerful burst from active sensor emplacements wash over its small hull, turrets swivelling away from travel positions to train on it. From one of the three platforms orbitting the planet, a fighter wing hurtles out of the bays, joining the wings already on patrol as they streak towards the fresh contact. No ships fire, no missiles blast free of their launch tubes, but the sudden appearance has certainly gotten the attention of the local space defense forces. As the message is received, a slight bit of the tension running through each and every command deck ebbs, but only a portion. A signal is sent in response, as the real decision-makers break out of offices and meetings and bedrooms, hurrying to an emergency conference.

Hold your present orbit until further notice.
Aaynidus watched his Illusory Display as it was fed information from the Passive Sensor dishes. Guns were tracking them, fighters sped toward them. Possibly for inspection, possibly for attack. The uncertainty was exhilirating to the middle aged cleric. He ws not only the diplomatic liason, but along with the Arcane Devotee(a mage) Jalith, he was the commander of this vessel.

He turned to the mage, who wore robes emblazoned with the eyed gauntlet of helm.

"Think we should raise walls, or would that trigger a defensive reaction do you think?"

The younger wizard looked at the other commander thoughtfully, then responded.

"Discretion is the better part of valor, keep the walls down, we would be equally dead with or without them if they decide to be hostile, best not provoke them." the mage said, with complete and utter seriousness

"Well, you mages are smarter than I usually give you credit for" the cleric said with a broad smile

"Helm sees all, know this, and be judged" the wizard said with a bit of quasi blasphemous mirth. The small bridge crew shared a laugh before turning to more serious matters.

Aaynidus turned back and spoke into the intership comm system.

"Acknowledged, unidentified government. Our walls are down, and our weapons are unpowered, gunports closed. Weawait further instructions"
He turned to the mageagain after switching off the comms

"A bit jumpy arent they?"

BFE-007 IV, Chandler's Folly

Long-barreled railgun turrets slowly swivel to keep the transport dead centered in their sights as orbits diverge, additional fighter wings spilling from the carrier-base to take up patrol positions abandoned by the new arrival's four 'escort' wings. Sliding over the planetary horizon, a massive mountain of blast-plating accelerates in an artificial orbit, catching up from behind the bizarrely-designed craft. Meanwhile, another transmission arrives from the surface below.

You are hereby invited to make planetfall at the following coordinates. A representative of the foreign outreach office will be present to meet with you there.

-Admiral Cyrus Alwin, Senior Foreign Outreach Officer
The coordinates are that of an isolated island near the center of the planet's largest ocean. There is a facility of some sort there, and orbital sensors can ascertain increased levels of aerial activity around it. As the planetary shield thins out to a bare veil overtop it, a pair of atmosphere-capable starships rise up through the gap, the twin atmospheric heavy gunships taking up escort positions around the unknown craft, two of the four fighter wings peeling off in the process. A second signal is directed at the ship, this time from one of the gunships.

Looking at the long barreld railguns, the ships psychologist, a gnome by the name of Kinninack Jinkle looked at the two commanders

"Judge me by by size do you?" he said in yodaesque voice, hich was actually his natural voice.

The rest of the crew rolled their eyes. For all his knowledge of psychology, and his skill as a therapist, he sure didnt have a senseof humor

BFE-007 IV, Chandler's Folly

For all that it's in an isolated planetary location, the base is actually quite large and well-equipped...and equally well-defended, but that goes without saying. Several hangars are built into the harsh island's stone edifice, home to the transatmospheric fighters and veetol gunships that buzz around the skies overhead. The fighter screen parts to make way for the small convoy, their carrier-based brethren peeling away and streaking back upwards like a cloud of homesick meteors. The two jump-capable LSGs take up positions overing over the wide landing pad in the center of the base as a group of uniformed figures emerges from a lift in its corner.

The Ship lands, seeming to fogoe the use or repulsorlifts, but also the use of reaction engines. Landing gear seems to materialize out of nowhere. As te uniformed figures approach, the landing plank extends from the ships morror finished hull, without the usual hiss of hydraulics or pneumatics. However, the air seems to crackle and hum with an unseen force as the entorage approaches the vessel.

From the gang plank steps down 4 figures.
The first is a mountain of a man, clad in full gothic style plate mail, with aBarbute style helm. He wears a surcoat of pure white over it, bearing the Holy Symbol of Helm, the back of a gauntlet with an all seeing eye in the center of the hand. In his left arm is a shield, mirror finished with the same symbol etched into it by hand. At his side hangs a bastard sword that glows with an unearly aura, and in his right hand he carries the baton that traditionally marks the Herald in earth's medieval period.

To his right, stood a somewhat shorter man with longer hair, and pointy ears, wearing blue robes with the same Holy symbol, bearing a simple quarterstaff.

Flanking them where two men, clad in half plate, wielding what looked like elaborate belt-fed crossbows, with longswords at their side.

The first man stepped foward, smiling warmlyat what looked to be fellow humans. Leaving the mage and his guards behind on the ship. When he reached the uniformed figures he went down to one knee, holding up the ornatly carved platinum baton, offering it as a symbol of goodwill.

"Father Aaynidus Drianitasidor at your service" he said, waiting to be told to rise.

Oh, great, THIS kind of diplomatic meeting.

That's the thought that carefully does /not/ cross the faces of the two navy-blue-and-silver-uniformed men who've come out to greet the unannounced visitors. The same may or may not be said of the two pairs of Marines flanking the flag-rankers, but as the Sixth's powered armor doesn't go in for two-way transparent face-plates, that's somewhat academic. The figure with four silver bars on his collar tabs smoothly reaches down to take the baton, a decades of experience dealing with the local barely-spaceworthy neobarbs having given him a decent grounding in how to treat with retrograde-style societies. There's always the chance of a colossal screwup, there always is, but he deems it less likely with what at least appears to be a reasonably advanced spacefaring civilization.

As he straightens up, baton in hand, he speaks, "On behalf of the Senior Admiral Richard Dassault and the entire Sixth Cruiser Squadron, welcome to BFE-007 IV. I am Admiral Cyrus Alwin, and this is Vice Admiral William Rankin." With that, he gestures towards the other man, who nods his grey-frosted head once and takes a half-step forewards. "I'll be your liason officer, please to meet you...Father."

As Admiral Cyrus Alwin takes the baton, the priest stands up seemlessly

"It is a pleasure to meet you Admiral, and Vice Admiral, and I am pleased at your warm welcome and am happy to be here at BFE-007 IV
I apologize for the ultra-formlity, but it is an article of faith, an ancient custom that refuses to die." he said with that semi-blasphemous smile.

"I sense your aprehension at calling me father... It is a clerical title, I am as much a priest as a warrior and diplomat. But as you can see, I lack the white collar of the neo-christian, or New Roman Catholic priests."

He extends a gauntleted hand in the form of a more... standard greeting. It was just then that the two admirals noted that he projected an intangible aura of law-bound benevolence.

"I'm afraid there's a storm front coming in from the east...if you'll just follow me, we'll take this indoors before it gets here." the admiral holding the baton ventures, gesturing towards a fast-moving cluster of black clouds growing larger against the pale sky. The marines stand at post as the Navy admirals lead the bizarre entourage into the lift. All four remain on the landing pad, as the lift itself is already home to another pair of soot-black suits. As the lift doors slide shut, the wind is already starting to pick up, unfurling the flag bearing the sigil of the Sixth.

Shortly, the lift doors open again, directly into a large conference room, the table hosting far more chairs than the room now contains warm bodies. Admiral Alwin has apparently passed off control of the party to his slightly younger subordinate, moving to take a seat on the far end of the table. Meanwhile, Vice Admiral Rankin gestures towards the vacant chairs, "Please, take a seat. For obvious reasons, we were unprepared for your arrival, so the drummers and pipes are on the far side of the planet. I trust you can make do?" That's as close to a rebuke as the Foreign Outreach Office will deliver to the unannounced guests, but even at their most diplomatic, a certain bluntness creeps into their phrasing as a matter of course.

It has come to our attention that several corporations inside the Corporate Hegemony have developed advanced cybernetics and medical technology, while you are at the same time in need of ships. On behalf of Sirius Cybernetics and Automation Inc, we wish to extend a limited licensing offer for your cybernetics and biomedical technology. Sirius Cybernetics and Automation is one of the largest suppliers of cybernetics and biomedical technology in the region, with over 5,000 major clients galaxywide. We therefore feel that such a licensing agreement would be in your favor, as we can also provide a discount on cutting-edge spacecraft from Quaynar Industries and Vega Space Engineering.

The vast, spiked shape of an Emperor-class battleship, the Litany of Fury sliced out of hyperspace with menacing grace into Corporate Hegemony space. On board was Saint Vesuvius Arnorik, the Emperor's most trusted lieutenant. Behind the Litany came half a dozen cruisers of the Imperialis Victor division, followed by wings upon wings of fighters. The Saint was extremely valuable to the Imperium; his leadership and cunning rivaled (blasphemy!, some of the Ecclesiarchs gasped) that of the Emperor himself. Thus, he deserved such an honor guard, even for some of the most mundane matters. Which, of course, this was not.

His pristine visage lit up holo-screens across the Hegemony vessels awaiting. His face was pure and unblemished, his eyes gold-flecked orbs of silver. His head was naked, save for an aquila implanted into his forehead. Around his head a dozen skull-drones floated, fiercesome crimson optical senors and weapon pods powered alert, twiching side to side at every sound.

When the Saint spoke, it was as if a whole world spoke with Him. Masculine and feminine, elderly and adolescent, cultured and crude, His voice was music to anyone's ears, even if they did not speak his language. And His smile...the most hardened, cynical warriors had fallen to their knees and wept when He smiled. He radiated pure grace, calm, and at times, righteous fury across the void, touching everyone within light years of him.
A true divine being, and to imagine that he was a mere underling of the eternal Emperor.

So, men of the Corporate Hegemony. Let us hear your words, and I shall weigh them in my hand.

"I do apologize for our unnanounced arrival, and drummers and pipes are hardly necessary, my regalia is required by my religion, and I dont expect it of you. Unfortunatly, we couldnt contact you directly without first establishing face to face contact, unless we wanted to broadcast all across known space.. something neither of us want. "

He looked around before taking a seat, graciously, he then produced four copies of a Dossiert(sp) on the Federation. One in Earth English, one in written Basic, and the other in old Latin, just to make sure it could be translated. The other was in data crystal format, but it was not sure that they could use it with ther computers(this contains the expanded version of my OOB with detailed history, lists of government officias, sans the military details. Though it does have sillouette data and transponder codes)

"These documents, are in several languages and thus you should be able to use them in whatever written form your spoken language takes. They are otherwise identical. But I suppose I should tell you about us before you look inside that dossiert."
He gave a quick smile beofre continuing, having been through a few first contacts, he knew what the immediate impression people had of his culture was

"Before you get it set in your heads, we are not barbarians by any means. On the ther hand, I am sure your culture has legends of powerful users of a force called "magic", beings capable of altering local reality on their whims? Yes?"
He waited a second for them to nod(this is a safe assumption as well, every culture has these)

"Well, some of them are not far off the mark. The Federation fo Thaumaturgists is a nation populated and ruled by those that wield magic in one way or the other. Some, such as my robed friend Jalith here, wield it through the force of will, and his own study of its inner workings. Others such as myself, are granted the ability to use it by higher powers, gods. THe spells are different, but the power is the same. The ability to modify our corner of existance."

He paused for questions

The well-ordered mind of Admiral Alwin, now not responsible with actively managing the intercourse, settles on several key points.
1) That datacrystal is not going anywhere NEAR a Sixth computer anyrime soon.
2) We don't know how that ship works, and it's been giving scantechs fits.
3) This guy's either very deceptive, an utter loon, or telling the truth.

Meanwhile, Vice Admiral Rankin takes all four copies and sets them down to one side, producing a somewhat more hastily-assembled folio which he passes back. It contains similar information, albeit in a more abbreviated form...even for such noncritical data, the Sixth is not the most trusting party ever encountered, at the very least. And then...er...Magic. Uh...yeah. Members of the Foreign Outreach Office, however, are nothing if not actors, and so Rankin quickly smoothes his face out and slides on past the issue. "The Sixth Cruiser Squadron has grown out of a stranded naval element into the nation you encounter today. Aaah...I trust that from now on, direct contact will be possible without giving Skywatch such a heart attack?

"Oh, of course, we can make direct contact now... it is a sort of all or nothing issue with our communications spells... I dare say, the road you have climbed to autonomy must have been difficult. Trying to repair ships, while building the infastructure necessary to do so. I commend your engineers of yor. They were most skilled"

He looked at their facial expressions. They could hide a lot, but the eyes said everything.

"Hmm, what would you say if I proposed an exchange of embassies?"

"My government would be amenable to that," Rankin begins, then frowns and pulls out a datapad to consult with. After glancing over a few short pages, he shakes his head slightly, "Sadly, our forces are somewhat extended at the moment...say, in four days, I'll arrive aboard battlecruiser Purity, along with my staff. Would that be acceptable?"

From: The Blue Order Parish of ACIN Affairs

The ACIN continues to work towards a better galaxy for all people. The Very Reverend Mother Helena Sabinaria has requested, on behalf of the ACIN, that the Blue Order and the honrable Three Suns Commonwealth exchange Embassies. The Blue Order has worked hard to bring peace and prosperity to those without and the Very Reverend Mother Helena Sabinaria believes that this cause can be furthered at the benefit to both the citizens of the Three Suns Commonwealth and the citizens of the ACIN.

In addition the ACIN is deeply interested in securing safe passage for traders and merchants seeking to travel to the Galactic East. We are, likewise, willing to grant safe passage and aid to Three Suns Commonwealth vessels travelling to the Galactic West.

Re: Exchange of ambassadors

Greetings and Salutations,

It has come to our attention that despite our reasonble amount of trade with one another, we have yet to formally establish diplomatic ties. Therefore, we propose an exchange of ambassadors. I would be willing to send Abbot Estrian Jarin to be our official representative to your government if you wish to go through with the exchange

A unarmed Rankin class gunboat painted pure white and carrying high ranking officers of the Hub, jumps out of hyperspace just inside BFE-007's bounderies, and begans transmitting an open transmission to all those with the correct recivers.
This is The Aglatarian Hub, a free ranging trading fleet, we would like to open negotiations for trading rights and technology exchanges, all noticed parties may respond.
Hub Out.
The gunboat continues transmitting for the next 60 mintues, then quietly shuts down and accelerates past the 7th planet in the system, and parks in the 6th planet's orbit.
From there, it extends a small tube and spits out a small drone, which then activates and continues tranmitting the original message but with added communication protocols to reach the gunboat.

The gunboat quietly leaves the system's boundaries and settles down to wait.

EDIT: added unarmed.
EDIT2: added the fact its carrying VIP's.

A unarmed Rankin class gunboat painted pure white and carrying a group of officers of the Hub, jumps out of hyperspace near one of the systems known to be home to the Quylthulg Confederation , and begans transmitting an open transmission.

This is The Aglatarian Hub, a free ranging trading fleet, we would like to open diplomatic relations and a treaty of cooperation, please signal your response on this channel.
Hub Out.

The gunboat continues transmitting for the next 60 mintues, then quietly leaves the system's boundaries and settles down to wait.

The Quylthulg Confederation Dept. of Transportation greets its counterparts in the Federation of Thaumaturgists

The Department's mandate has now been expanded to include the making and maintaining of detailed maps of this entire region, including space claimed by other people. Your cooperation in this effort, by supplying maps of your territory or allowing Confederate surveyors access to same, would be greatly appreciated.

In response to those guys with the gunboat:

"Hello, you're pretty close to the right place. We can register you over radio, but if you want an office you'll have to be around in person some time.
Once you're done connect to TradeNet (protocol attached) if you're looking for work. Transportation has a really big project they're hiring for, that's a good place to start.

We'll hold off registering to your trade network untill face to face meetings are complete.
Therfore, will you please transmight cordinates to land at the nearest aviable high ranking officers HQ?
Gunboat out

The Gunboat micro-jumps back into the system and starts a clear approach to the interior.

We therefore feel that such a licensing agreement would be in your favor, as we can also provide a discount on cutting-edge spacecraft from Quaynar Industries and Vega Space Engineering.

as we are sure you are aware, we've lately been wanting to expand our marketing to offworld offices, and into the general public sector. naturally such a contract would be of mutual benefit to ourselves and your own government, and as such we are prepared to discuss terms for some of our technologies to be distributed and patented offworld. should you wish we can either discuss details via hyperspace relays or send a representative out to negotiate the contracts needed. i'm sure you'll find at least some of our propietary technologies to be of interest.
