Olympus + Asgard vs Lovecraftian Old Ones

Post by Rathark »

By Old Ones, I am not including Azathoth or Yog Sothoth, both of whom seem to be infinite (Azathoth at the centre of all chaos, Yog Sothoth everywhere else). I am including the other Outer Gods (Shub Niggurath, Nyalarthotep) and all other Old Ones (Cthulhu and "his" kin, Hastur the Unspeakable, the aliens who colonized Antarctica etc). I am NOT including the Elder Gods, who seem to be the enemies of the Old Ones.

From what I've read, the gods are going to lose this one.

The Old Ones rip apart the gods with ease, unless we are to believe that the Titans were actually the Old Ones, and the Greek Gods were able to banish them. In fact, the prediction of Ragnarock and the death of the Asgardian Gods could have been the simple knowledge that the Old Ones would eventually return.

Ummm....

This is damn tough. The Great Old Ones MIGHT be able to defeat the others in a magic/insanity battle... But the Greek and Norse gods might take them in HtH...

GAH!

How many tentacles does Cthulu have?

A lot. Too many.

The Asgardian fall. The Greeks are no match. Insanity will consume the world in a dark cloud of thunder and death.

Were the old ones' powers simply their immense size, I would be tempted to hand this to the Gods. Remember, it was just three gods, Odin, Vili, and Ve who killed Ymir, the first and by far the greatest of the frost giants, so big that they used his body to create the earth.

I do believe that gods ought to be able to keep their sanity. Other than that, I don;t know. They would still probably lose, but it would be a little closer than people think. Like 100 to 1 odds insted of million to one.
