So your opinion is......?SolidSnake wrote:Well, Metallica stopped being good after Black Album. Megadeth was good all the way to the end. Oh, and a lot of Metallica's good songs were written by Dave Mustaine. Dave Mustaine is also much less of an asshole than James Hetfield.

The list of Metallica songs written by Dave Mustaine:
The Four Horsemen (Originally called "the Mechanix" Mustaine wrote the whole song, then Metallica stole the riff and changed the lyrics.)
Jump in the Fire
Phantom Lord
Metal Militia
Ride the Lightning
The Call of Ktulu
I have "No Life 'Till Leather", Metallica's demo. Cliff Burton and Dave Mustaine played in this demo. Dave's leads sound a LOT better than Hammet's in the Kill 'Em All songs, and that was only a demo tape.

I'd have to second that, but then even though I like old Metallica I like their album Load the best.King Cosmos wrote:Yes, Metallica. All those who decry Megadeth are blaspheeeeemers! Metallica has a better sound, better songs, and better videos. Even new Metallica is better than Megadeth.IG-88E wrote:Metallica
I like Megadeth too but not nearly as much even though Dave Mustaine is pretty cool (and lives up in Phoenix). He even wrote the song Crush 'Em so the Coyotes could have a new song to open their games with.

Metallica... now I wouldn't go so far as saying that new metallica is better then Megadeath. New Metallica is a coup out compared to their old stuff.

I think they were always called a cop-out, even way back when "Ride the Lightning" came out. I think it was because of the whole intro with the acoustic guitar.Larz wrote:Metallica... now I wouldn't go so far as saying that new metallica is better then Megadeath. The acoustic guitar added something beautiful to it. I know that its supposed to be 80's metal but any true artist don't just stick to one thing. If they just stuck to one style then they'd have been no better then the alternative clone bands of the modern day where everyone plays the same neo-grunge neo-alternative crap.King Cosmos wrote:I think they were always called a cop-out, even way back when "Ride the Lightning" came out. Well, in the song Phantom Lord on Kill Em All, there is an acoustic interlude. I think it sounds awesome.
But really, the only Megadeth member who's teeth i want to punch in is chris poland, for stealing band equipment and selling it for heroine. The Metallica members who's teeth i want to punch in is: Hetfield, Ulrich, and Newsted.

Metallica. They are unafraid of reinventing themselves and their sound, and they are very musical. A cello quartet group called Apocalyptica only does Metallica songs. Their version of "Nothing Else Matters" is simply gorgeous! The fact that their music can be covered by classical instruments or accompanied with them (S&M, baby) makes them excellent musicians.
I found the Napster fiasco quite annoying, but it still doesn't diminish my opinion of them.

Re: Metallica vs. Megadeth
Metallica brought the speed metal genre to the forefront in the States. IMO, Motorhead invented it. When the black album came out, I like many other speed metal fans at the time thought they'd sold out, but as I've gotten older, I find that their newer stuff isn't too bad (up until Reload). Megadeth is okay but a bit one-sided in style, much like Overkill, Testament, Anthrax, and countless other speed metal bands of the mid-80's...SolidSnake wrote:Who is the better band? Discuss...
