SSD fighter complement

Post by Sarevok »

144 starfighters sound too low for an 18 km long ship. Are there any unofficial estimates on what the actual SSD fighter complement might be ?
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

Didn't KJA depict the fighter complement numbering in the thousands?

the ITW retcons this but doesn't give a number. It simply says "wings of fighters" which implies more than two.

Well... yes, but strictly speaking 'wings of fighters' only means more than ONE. And 144 fighters is two wings. :|

Hey, I want there to be thousands of fighters...

Yes, in Darksaber, KJA described the Knight Hammer (only 8km in the book), as being packed to the max with thousands of fighters/bombers when attacking Yavin IV.

Oh right, the same book where sabotaging all the TIE bombers in one of the smaller hangars to blow up at once blew apart half the SSD?

IIRC, it was the main hanger, so literally every one of those thousands of fighters went up, along with their ordinance and fuel.
And this is why you don't watch anything produced by Ronald D. Moore after he had his brain surgically removed and replaced with a bag of elephant semen.-Gramzamber, on why Caprica sucks

It didn't blow half the ship apart. Calista set up the entire squadron of Bombers to fire all at the same time at the bulkhead right before the engines. Why a hanger bay is that close to the engines i'm not sure but an internal explosion that close to the main engines would fuck them up causing the ship to plunge off in a random direction. Unfortunatley for Adm Daala this random direction was straight towards Yavin IV.

Shit i know more about KJA books than is good for me.

It completely tore off the engines and the damage was clearly visible from the Rebel ships looking out the window. That's quite bad ;)
