Shortly before the Great War, as part of the Star Kingdom's black research project into the Beast, the SKS fielded eighteen Atlas-G strategic missile regiments with Beast nanite packages held in stasis. Surviving records indicate that those missiles were not fired by direct order of GHQ. Official recovery teams sent after the war discovered that the missiles were missing from their launch silos with no sign of them being fired.

Unofficially, the missiles had been recovered and operationally used at selected times. Eight Kzinti convoys were assimilated by single missile strikes; rebellious nobility during the Succession Wars were also taken out in a similar fashion. Further attacks by Zerg/Vong forces were repelled when the RN was weak with such weapons. Other targets were destroyed but few speak of the horrible evils that mandated use of them.

Three missiles remain unaccounted for, and are not in the SKS' posession.

ohhh, such fancy names!
The SI unit of stupidity is the bozon. Your garden variety idiot barely registers, but trolls are so dumb as to generate a detectable energy field. The Bozon Field Generator is an attempt to harness this malevolent power; while one is in operation the laws of physics and probability are distorted, machinery tends to fail, and dumb things happen. It also tends to attract trolls.

The Logic/Antilogic reactor is a corollary to the matter/antimatter annihilation reactor, except that it uses a far more energetic reaction--obviously that of logic and antilogic. Moreover it is safer. Because the ship, like the universe, is carrying logic and antilogic in equal amounts, there is no danger of containment loss as with antimatter. Concentrated logic is a deadly poison to trolls, whereas anyone who has seen ST:TOS can tell you that nothing destroys robots and supercomputers like antilogic (the Kirk Tactic!).

The Reality Assertitron is a powerful weapon which forces things to operate as they're supposed to, neutralizing Bozon Fields, Infinite and Finite Improbablity machines, and other such things. It is a sure deterrent to Trolls.

The SMEF (Spontaneous Massive Existence Failure) projector makes things stop existing by a process so esoteric not even the people who designed it understood it (they were in fact instructed on how to build it by the unspeakably advanced Outsiders, a race that'd been space-faring for about as long as there had been a multiverse). The targets simply go away and don't come back.

The LU (Little Universe, referring to the Universe Shield which was a different thing) shield used the SMEF projector to make attacks directed at the protected vessel go away, rendering it pretty much invulnerable, though attacks composed of massively huge numbers of projectiles/beams could (and at one point did) get through.

All of these things were mounted on the GPF Oppenheimer. She was more or less the most fearsome combat vessel ever constructed in the STGOD, thanks to the last two inventions. It was helmed by (evil) Pablo Sanchez, one of many author-avatars present in the STGOD, who had nearly unlimited ability to tap the Dark Side of the Force and some other bits. At one point he psychically assaulted Nitram's nanite mind collective Beast and did a crazy amount of damage (something like 250 populated galaxies throughout the universe--evil Sanchez probably has the all-time bodycount record in STGOD thanks to that). He was not badass enough to tango with Saturn, however, and got himself perished at Skaarjin. The Oppenheimer, along with the Sailor Jupiter, disappeared and have not been heard from since.

I don't think so. Oh, yeah, and from what I recall Evil Sanchez was also tapped into the Zero System, a system that gave its user near-instantaneous reaction time. Think Neo or an Agent dodging bullets in the Matrix and multiply by about ten and you should have an idea. Add Sith powers and you have a world of hurt.

No, just standard gravity and ion drives for sublight, and a foldspace drive for FTL travel. When would it ever need to run from anything?

Well, it availed him not against Saturn, though the fact that he managed to last long enough to actually injure her was remarkable (even if he owed a lot to her holding back). Aside from Saturn and (obviously) Serenity, Graeme more than likely could have taken him.

Hey guys, why is Tycho's power in the Galaxtic West? When his OOB says:

OK, tried to fix it. Don't know if it's to Tycho's liking or not, and I probably screwed up a little bit of the diplomacy in the process. Ah well. Guess the whole Imperium fell into a bigass wormhole or something.

Being that I wasn't involved in STGOD2 I don't know much about the NPC nations (and as much as I'd like to read the Game thread, I want to do other things today). So, the Fenari, what sort of government did they have? What sort of name would their leader have? Capital world (if not Fenris...). I've got a little diplomatic wheeling and dealing to do over there (I'm guessing Marcao will fill in as them, should the need arise?)

I would just like to say, Bystander, that I'm pretty sure warp is considered quite reliable and the reason it's not used is because it's really slow compared to the other FTL devices. A piddly destroyer should not be able to shut it down, and neither should a debris field. This isn't star trek, and the warp isn't star trek warp. I can see slowing me down to only several times the speed of light, but not shutting me down.

As it is, you need to give me more information about the battle. The uglies are in the open with no direct support. No matter how fast they are, they aren't as fast as PD weapons or missiles. They should be dying as fast as my guns can shoot them down, and there are definitely more then 30 PD weapons of my ship. Why are they staying alive? Why are they concentrating on the Arrowhead when they can't win? What are they shooting me with?

If it's not Star Trek warp than what is it? Whatever it is, it isn't important.
Interdiction kills FTL of all sorts, it does evil things to space, subspace, hyperspace. It exists, and pirates are going to have a damned hard time catching any prey without it, super freighders don't just fall out of hyperspace you know. If warp had the capacity to escape normal interdiction there'd be no real use for interdiction, it's not like we can interdict an entire system, just a small enough pocket of space to force combat.

In the case of the debris field, you are right, it doesn't shut down FTL, it just makes it very dangerous, the likleyhood of a collision is very high.

Uglies, are merely poorly thrown-togather fighter sized craft. They might mount any number of weapons, but it's not important. What is important that they *aren't* staying alive. As of my last post the combat had been going on for only a few seconds.

There is medium fire coming from 3 angles in the dust cloud, your probe detected a heavy frigate at one of those angles, and has given enough targetting information to hit with relative accuracy.

In case it wasn't obvious, they are shooting at you because your ship is not adrift, unlike the poor destroyer. Perhaps the pirates just need a little time to bring up a ship with a tractor beam to wisk the destroyer into the debris field, never to be seen again.

I see your point about warp and interdictiors, but I'm not so much worried about the fact of interdiction. What doesn't fly for me is a destroyer completely shutting down a cruiser. Not to mention its a pirate destroyer, so I doubt its top of the line to say the least. It would stop freighter with ease, which would be its primary prey, no?

Last I checked, an interdictor was a binary device. Yes/no, stop/go, etcetera. Area of effect changes, but not what's interdicted.

Last I checked Interdiction fields were fields and have strength and their power decreases with distance. I've always understood that to be the case.

IIRC we had it so that inside the field of interdiction it interdicts, outside it doesn't.

okay, and the size of a ship doesn't effect the power of its interdiction field? That sucks, but if I am fighting tradition then *throws down hat*

A note on the Purified and their relationship to everyone now:
We don't really see ourselves as an international power, yet, but that's changing. The origin of the Domain is such that we are just a large religious group that happens (because of the structure of the Blessing) to have a very rigid central organization. And it spreads like wildfire because of the appealing nature of the basic tenants of the religion. So now a group of religious leaders are finding themselves as the rulers of a potent international power, and they are making steps to find out where they stand in the galaxy as a whole. And at the same time, they are sending out missionaries. They still are a religious movement, and they would be remiss in their duties to God if everyone were not given the chance to hear the True Word, no?

quick question. how well known are the history of the troll hordes, and how common would the knowledge be that they've "returned"? and if it's not all that common would it be possible for my power's intelligence network to find out about it?

Well, presumably the power of the interdiction field affects how WIDE an area it covers. Within its area of effect, FTL travel isn't. Outside, it is. That area's dimensions just change.

Trolls were pretty much a fact of life in the pre-Fall era. Their last great invasion was the Thanksgiving 2000 STGOD, during which they were defeated and their power broken with the death of their king (at the hands of John Hansen, mercenary at large, if I recall correctly). If your nation has a historical record that goes back to the pre-fall times they probably know about trolls in the historical sense.

One could theorize Trolls being behind the recent dark age. A Bozon field would eradicate a planet's ability to produce high tech items.

Uhhhmmm.... Uh-Oh? Seriously the Knights Templar is maybe 6-7 generations old. Someone's going to have to explain this to them... Just how strong are Trolls anyways? Militarily I mean.
