Good multiplayer PS2 games

Post by jcow79 »

I'm looking for a good multiplayer preferrably co-op PS2 game that both me and my g/f can enjoy. Neither of us are really racing or sports buffs. We've played a bit of Baldur's Gate in the past that was pretty fun. She's not a big fan of FPS games. Any suggestions?

If you wanted a simple, fun, multiplayer co-op game, I'd recommend you pick up a pair of GBA SPs, a GameCube, and Zelda: Four Swords. Of course this will run you about...
$79
$79
$99
+$49
------
$306.

I've played it with my friends though (I have a GBA SP, he has a GBA SP, we both have GameCubes, he has four swords), and it's dang fun. :D

I don't have a PS2 so I can't recommend much, but I'll try to think of something...

X-Men: Legends is pretty good.

Short of Baldurs Gate II (which I havent played), I can only think of one proper co-op game that I've found (I, too, don't like FPS). Trouble is, I can't remember the name, and there was a problem in that the characters are much the same colour as the monsters, so my BF and I would often accidentally attack each other.

Well, there is any of the 2 person fighting games...but those just consist of you guys beating the crap outta each other (and I find that animosity can grow as one person keeps beating the other)

wow...I can think of none....cept maybe Xmen

Gamecube really is the system made for multiplayer. Multiplayer RPGS (Tales of Symphonia...its amazing, FF crystal chronicals), Multiplayer wackiness (Mario Party, Mario Kart), Donkey kong Bongos), and even multiplayer shooters like metroid prime echos. Just the design of the cube, which includes all 4 controller sockets, makes it more multiplayer friendly. Think about it...you can get the gamecube with 2 controllers plus mario kart for 89.99. Thats the price of 2 games. It could be worth it.

Any of the WWE games offer the chance for you to be a co-op tag team. IIRC Jedi Starfighter has a co-op mode also.

Baldurs Gate 2 was never on the PS2....unless you mean Dark Alliance 2 which is unworthy to have the BG name attatched to it. ;)

Good point. Mario Kart is insane multiplayer fun, even if you utterly hate racing games (like me. The only racing games I would ever play are Burnout 3, which isn't out for GC, and Mario Kart). And the GC is a lot cheaper at this point.

Hmmm, the Gamecube is looking more and more appealing. I've always been impressed with what the GC could pulll off but just havn't gotten around to buying one.
Thanks for the input on multiplayer ps2 games though. I'll continue my search.

For PS2, any of Koei's Warrior series. Just a giant battle royale and thats it. Been awhile since I've had the need for Multiplayer games for the PS2. I suggest Gotcha Force for the GC if you have the time to spend to get all the different action figures.

If your looking for good multiplayer, co-op and most importantly if your GF is more towards the 'I like cute things' kind of gamer, you might want to find a good deal for a Gamecube on Ebay. The games usually have a pretty good steal too.

Not co-op, but Guilty Gear X2 #Reload is the best fighter out there.
