Cate Blanchett is pretty damned good looking. Whats amazing is she is only 36 years old, yet she can have such a mature look to her and her characters. In both LOTR and The Missing she seemed much older, yet is obviously still amazing looking.

Well, since nobody else seemed to have mentioned her, I'd like to put in my pick, Gabrielle Anwar, from Scent of a Woman. She never made it big as an actress, she's about ten years older than me, and she's married, but I think she's beautiful anyway. And she's British.
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.

Harsh lights don't make a woman's figure go from curvy to Lara Flynn Boyle. Don't take my word for it:
Connelly's speech struck more than a few Oscar watchers as surprisingly low-key -- almost dour. Partly it was that intensity of hers, partly just shyness. A number of industry observers had another reaction. What had happened to those once ample breasts? Had Connelly had plastic surgery to reduce them? Connelly's publicist Cari Ross says no. "It's absolutely not true -- swear on my life. She simply lost weight, and when she did she apparently lost weight in her breasts as well. She's put on weight since the Oscars, and you can see in pictures taken since then that they're sort of back."
-from Vanity Fair September 2002.

Sure, she looked good in A Beautiful Mind, but not great as she did in Waking the Dead or unbefuckinglievable like she did in her earlier movies. I'm still pissed at Ron Howard for that goddamned paint can in Inventing the Abbotts. I digress.

Just compare how she looked @1997 to nowadays. She looked much better then and it's not aging. The new picture from Perinquus is encouraging, though.

It's not just that one picture. There was a period where she actually looked sickly, that was how thin she was. Some of the pictures I saw could be written off as bad photography, but there were some that couldn't. She simply lost too much weight.

She looks better now that she's apparently put some back on, but I'm with Elfdart. She looked better before she lost any of it. There are plenty of slender actresses; she was striking in part because she had those curves.

There are some serious hotties mentioned, already, so I'll just throw in one for us old-timers:

Yvette Mimieux. Her performance as Weena in The Time Machine (the only movie by that name, BTW--none others exist), was absolutely stunning.

Whoever told her she needed to be a skinny one needed to be slapped upside the head.

I think the most striking thing is that some people actually thought/think Connelly had to lose weight at all, she had no tummy or anything, she was just busty. I wouldn't even consider her thick, she's thin chest down.

Much agreement on what's been mentioned so far, I'd like to add Jessica Alba to this 'list' as well.

And Karen McDougal, although she isn't really an actress... But Playmate of the Year has to count for something  .

Rebecca Romijn-Stamos
Marilyn Monroe
Betty Page (not really a famous actress but still, damn fucking hot in her glory years)

Kristen Kruek is a catalyst for saliva. She's got utterly amazing blue eyes. She's young now, but she'll probably get even better looking as she gets older.

What does he mean then, not as good as the others? She is so hot, I wish I had two dicks to jerk off to her instead of one I have to whack twice as hard.

Jaime Pressley btw.
