Zone Alarm Problems

Post by Zac Naloen »

Im trying to configure zone alarm on a network and its screwing me around a bit.
I need to use a shared internet connection. Zone Alarm doesn't seem to want me to do this.

Does anyone know the settings you need in order to get it to work?

Do you use a router to share the connection or two network cards in the computer?

well, its a bit odd actually. at this moment in time. The modem cannot plug into the routers internet slot due to a cable mismatch (this is a big fucking cable, not an ADSL one) and the only other way to connect it is ethernet. Doing this neither computer can see the internet. SO i have to have modem plugged into PC 1. PC 2 connects to PC 1 across the wireless network using PC 1 as its gateway to access the net.

With Zone Alarm active on PC 1 PC 2 cannot access the net. And i haven't enough knowledge about firewalls and the like to work this one out myself.

On a related note, using this set up i get a nat error on bittorrent so i get slow downloads. If faram oh mighty network admin can work out how i can make this work without bodging it like i have i would be very happy :)

If not, just get me PC 2 on the net securely and i'll just be normal happy :D

As far as I know, the free version of Zonealarm doesn't like ICS. It may have changed since i used it.

Either switch to ZAPro, which has a simple option to enable sharing, or to Kerio, which should be able to do the business.
