How does "this assclown has a hidden agenda" translate to "everyone there has a hidden agenda"?
Because it seems like it's another case of this board looking at the location and making the knee jerk assumption that there must be fundamentalist agenda behind this.
On the contrary, this seems like a bill that would come from a hardcore Pro-Lifer. Notice how he responds to accusations about a fetal death bill by talking about babies; now who do you know that routinely treats "fetus" and "baby" as synonyms? Don't try to think too hard; I wouldn't want you hurting yourself.
Most normal people actually.

The fact that the bill just conveniently happens to fit precisely with hardcore anti-abortion dogma can only lead to a connection if you are using a "knee jerk assumption"? It seems like you are the one with jerked knee.

Bullshit. Most normal people can quite easily distinguish between "fetus" and "baby", and would not wave away the criticism the way he did.

A miscarriage is a very traumatic event. I know two women who each suffered a miscarriage within the past year. After it had happened, both of them were emotional wrecks. They cried for days, wanted very little contact with other people, and even felt a little humiliated. They both felt like they had failed somehow, or were physically unfit and unhealthy to ever have children. And now these people want to treat a miscarriage like its a murder investigation??? Its disgusting.

A print copy of this was mailed to John Cosgrove (from the Jesus General blogpage):
Miscarriage justice

Del. John Cosgrove
Virginia House of Delegates

Dear Del. Cosgrove,

I'm writing you to wish you luck on your bill requiring women to report miscarriages to the police within 12 hours. It's a good bill. It will provide law enforcement officers with the ability to interrogate women immediately after they miscarry, a time when they're the most emotionally vulnerable. It should result in many more feticide convictions.

We can do even more to protect the lives of Fetus-Americans. I've developed a small handgun that they can use to defend themselves. It's a fine weapon, but I've run into problems when I've given it to them. Fetus-Americans have lousy eyesight, hand-eye coordination, and judgment. They need extensive firearms training.

Image

That's where you come in. I'd like you to propose that the Commonwealth of Virginia institute a firearms instruction program for Fetus-Americans, something like the NRA's Eddy the Eagle Program--let's call it Ziggy the Zygote Training.

I'd also like you to be personally involved in the project. I'm a big fan of your Have a Cosgrove Christmas CD. Perhaps you could write songs to help the little Ziggy the Zygoters learn to use firearms responsively. I'm thinking of catchy little tunes with titles like Don't Shoot Mommy in the Uterus and I'm a Responsible Gun-Owning Blastocyst Defending Myself from the Abortionist.

I hope to hear back from you soon.

Heterosexually yours,

Gen. JC Christian, patriot

Not real Cylons, anyway.

My mom nearly died from a fallopean pregnancy, and her fellow catholics guilted her mercilessly for ending a life...

I have seen some OR idiots who think that a misscarriage is a murder because it's a "Spontaneous Abortion"

When are the legislatures going to learn that changing the criminal codes doesn't do shit for these types of problems? Not every "trash can baby" is abandoned as the result of malicious intent. Some (not most, not all) young pregnant women/girls get scared and in a panicked state abandon their baby. Not to say this is a good idea, or that they are right, but they certaintly are not thinking with a clear or logical mind. What the legislators need to do is start looking at why this happens, so it can be prevented. God forbid they actually see what is going on in their society that would possibly be influencing such criminal acts. :x  :banghead:

And I don't think that this is part of some anti-abortion lobby, but I'm sure they are more than willing to support it.

Now you remind me of one idea that's been used in some places. To prevent "trash can babies" somewhere, those areas allow mothers to leave their infants in a little private hidden place outside a hospital. No questions are asked; the baby can just be left and the mother leave and never think about it again. The infant would be cared for and put up for adoption. When implemented, only a very small number of babies are "abandoned" at those hospitals, but the number who are abandoned to the trash fall to zero.

Okay then: the Catholic Church is currently one of the most corrupt entities on the face of the planet and I wish many bad things upon it. And while I'm at it, the hardcore Christians can all drop dead too. Fuck, I wouldn't shed a tear if all organized religion suffered massive setbacks right now.

Well as a student of history, the covering up for the baby rapers, the deals with the nazi's and the total hypocracy is actually a sign that they are improving.

Hell it took them how many centuries to admit they were wrong about Gallileo, in the last 10 years they have admitted that supporting Nazis was wrong, and that YEC's are full of shit, two years ago they said jews shouldn't be persecuted anymore...

At least the popes aren't banging their own bastard daughters anymore (sorry Alexander and Lucrezia refremce was uncalled for), the church is finally starting to show signs of crawling out of the cesspool. Now if someone could teach the hard cores to listen....
