I never read the Lando novels, but I really liked Daley's books. I loved the original cover art.

Daley managed to introduce the Victory-class star destroyer, Z-95 Headhunter and the concept of old, multi km-long warships way back then.

From the Star Wars Databank

Removing the Kaiburr crystal from Mimban affected its mystical properties. Its power decreased in direct proportion to its distance from the temple. As such, the Kaiburr crystal became little more than a curiosity in Luke's possession, as he concentrated on the more pressing concerns of the Galactic Civil War. He would later use it as a teaching aid to his students in his Jedi Academy, and briefly experimented with using fragments of the gem as focusing crystals in lightsabers.

Kinda makes you wonder why he didn't establish the Jedi academy on Mimban instead...

Probaly the Sith temples in Yavin IV were more powerfull, also there was already a deserted rebel base in Yavin IV.

I doubt Luke would have used Yavin IV if he had known about Exar Kun and the origins of those temples right away.

Then that only happens in the book, or in the earlier published comics, because this one I got doesn't. Luke, after "arranging" the door with his lightsaber  , tells Leia to enter the miner's supply shop and change clothes, while he and the droids keep watch.

I dout Luke knew about the origins of those temples, but could sence that the Force was strong in them (each of these temples have dark side aura even after Kun was defeated (by the NJO).
