Jackson police today are trying to find a 4-month-old baby boy who was left
with his grandmother in late October.
Latashay White, 20, of Jackson left her then-newborn son with her mother, Katie
White, 35.
Katie White does not remember what she did with the boy, named D'Mario,
said Jackson police spokesman Robert Graham.
Katie White and the baby had been missing since the beginning of November,
when Latashay White tried to pick up her son, Graham said.
Relatives found Katie White on Sunday, but not the baby, Graham said.
Latashay White and other relatives told police they fear Katie White may
have lost or sold the baby while she was on a drug binge, Graham said.
Even though she hadn't seen the child since Halloween, Latashay White
didn't report the baby missing until Friday, Graham said.
"(Detectives) basically, literally have no beginning point," Graham
said.
Officials with the state Department of Human Services and local medical
centers have been contacted about the missing baby, Graham said.
Meanwhile, police also are looking for Katie White, who they say spends
time on North West Street but has no permanent address.
Anyone with information on D'Mario White is asked to call the child
protection division of the Jackson Police Department at 960-1318.
