You should've been a bloody Russian citizen, y'know. :P

The Russians may have got all mediaeval on Nazi arse, but the Nazi had the best uniforms bar none.

More or less, he dressed up as a SA-mann, instead of a Wehrmacht
soldier like Erwin Rommel
Actually.. I thought the CNN article stated that his costume had the Wehrmacht emblem on it.

That's not a Nazi Swastika, the Nazi version was tilted at a 45 degree axis.

Details, details. I bet if the other orientation of the swastika was shown in public, people would still show disgust despite it not being the Nazi emblem, but a far different sign.

His colossal ignorance apparently extends to the realm of costume authenticity.

Oh, I agree, just mentioning. However, the rest of the costume shows the intention that it is meant to be a Nazi uniform, despite any other inaccuracies.

A friend of mine went to a costume party dressed as a Nazi officer. It was funny seeing everyone trying to avoid him. Eventually he ran into another guest dressed the same way. "Noone's talking to you either?" "Nope."

I was once invited to a costume party and I went in my chainmail armour as a crusader. When I arrived, I found out the party was being put on by the university's Persian student association. I just turned around and left at that point.

For us Americans, what's a chav or townie?

Well, nature v. nurture ... I have a feeling she would have set the kid straight on this kind of nonsense in a hurry.

They need to get William married to somebody with real brains and personality to save this royal family ..... Wait, do Americans care if that royal family is saved? Not particularly ......

Personally I think Harry's going through a rebelious phase. You can't seriously expect me to believe he didn't think that was in bad taste. His mom has been sainted by much of the public, his dad is off with another woman and he's third in line to the throne, much of his life plotted out for him and its been drilled into him that he is a symbol, etc....that's a nice recipe for a little teen rebellion and general assness.

Maybe not, but I'm thinking...
Correct age bracket
Binge drinking incidents
Drug use incidents
Scrapping on the street incident
Poor acedemic performance
Family background of poor parenting skills and unstable relationship between parents
Insulting/anit-social/aggressive/distasteful behaviour

Dangerously close to ASBO-candidate territory if you ask me.

And regarding the dress thing - didn't his great-grandmother have a thing for burberry?

I'm kicking myself for not buying one of those KGB uniforms that were on sale here several years ago. :(

Yes, the surplus stores were full of all sorts of good items when the Workers' Paradise collapsed. I nabbed myself an East German frontier-guards' officer's jacket and greatcoat (better quality than the Russian coats) when that stuff was still available. Should have gone for a pair of boots as well.
