AVG7 Problems

Post by Admiral Valdemar »

I recently updated to AVG6 on my new PC as I moved back on to campus, but have been unable to update it at all, no matter what proxy setting I used for the update manager. Now, the original AVG6 worked perfectly, yet this seems more of a software or server problem rather than something my end.

Anyway, I was just wondering if this is a common problem. I have since upgraded last night to Avast! and that has worked wonders and already found a trojan AVG failedto detect.

what about simply downloading the .bin update files from the site itself and doing an update from your hard drive? i never update from the site itself, but downloading and then updating works fine for me.

Although more hassle, that doesn't work either it seems.

Just to let you know, I am on a home cable connection and am able to update AVG7 without issue.

Umm, you do know that support for AVG 6 has stopped as of the end of December and there was a notice to switch to 7...?

I've updated to version 7 and every second day AVG hangs the computer after 16 minutes.

AVG7 here since December, no problems yet. Do all the components have internet access? There are 4 that need it, IIRC.

Doesn't do that to me. I might have a pause of 30 seconds when it updates, but that's all.
