Who was Vader's Neck?

Post by Elheru Aran »

OK, I asked this question earlier in the chat...

In the scene in ESB where General Veers comes in to tell Vader of Ozzel's fuckup, and we see that Vader's hyperbaric chamber is opening, and get a glimpse of his scars and head-- who was that?

I'm leaning towards David Prowse wearing bald-head makeup with scars and shit painted on, but I'm not sure... *remembers substitution of Sebastian Shaw in ROTJ*

According to the IMDB, Sebastian Shaw played Vader in the scenes where we saw his face, or at least in RotJ. Although before I read that, I thought they had another actor in those scenes.

There's a third credit for Darth Vader in IMDb, a guy by the name of C Andrew Nelson. Might be him. :?

Nelson plays Vader in the LucasArts games, and he had a scene in the Special Edition. As far as I know, ESB Vader didn't have Nelson...

The scene continues after we hear the "THOONK" of Vader's helmet attaching, and if I recall correctly then transitions straight into his dialogue with Piett (could be wrong though... I've been holding off rewatching the OT until after Ep3). I bet it's just David Prowse.

Hehe... "THOONK".... Vader's helmet goes "THOONK"... fear that, Trekkies, the almight THOONK of Doom.

After the *THONK* o' Doom, it cuts to a shot of Piett stiffening up. Then it switches to Vader swirling around. It wasn't a continuous shot

Well, so it could be anyone. Or anything.

The Thoonk, of course, is eternal, however.

It was David Prowse wearing a bald cap. T'bone made an interview with David Prowse back in '98:

No, that was earlier. I remember it being Piett too, because Piett catchs a glimpse of Vader's scarred head, and he has a moment of revulsion. Then Vader spins around, and asks "What is it, Admiral?"

Then Piett tells him the MF went into an asteroid field, "Asteroids don't concern me Admiral! I want that ship, not excuses!" Then he closes the meditation pod, and the scene cuts to the MF in the asteroid, with Han saying "I'm going to turn off all unnecessary power" and which Threepio asks "I'm almost afraid to ask, but does that include shutting me down?"

You get the idea I trust. :)

Damn, you're right. I forgot about the second time we saw Vader's Egg, it was the first time we saw him without the helmet.

[NitpickyNitpick] "Yes Admiral" [/NitpickyNitpick]

He says "Yes Admiral, what is it" right before Piett's line: "...the Emperor commands you to make contact with him!"
