True. However, being called a number is really unconductive to the english language. Roll call would take awhile, I think.

"oh-five-seven-nine?"
"here!"
"okay. six-eight-oh-three?"

... yeah. People's names can get difficult, too, but they'd generally be less syllables.

(and how many digits would the numbers have to be to have a unique one for all people <18 in America? large number I bet.)

For some reason I keep thinking that the kid was named after the moment of his conception when both parents were yelling "Yahoo!" :D

One day I will name my future daughters after science fiction characters. I am not so sure about sons though. For some reason Picard, Riker or Spock don't sound so great.

I'd like to name my son Ninian Zelman.

People will think I'm nuts until I tell them that they're the names of two past Governors-General of Australia. Then they'll hopefully see it as patriotism.

(Sir Zelman Cowen was G-G from 1977-1982 and Sir Ninian Martin Stephen was G-G from 1982-1989. I always remembered them as the funny named G-Gs.)

Holy shit, an Aussie who actually knows the names of our Governor-Generals! Dare I ask if you know the names of our past Prime Ministers?

I just remember them because they're the funny-names. All I really remember off the top of my head is Barton was the first PM, and there was Keating, Whitlam (reverse chronological order from Howard).... Menzies (longest serving PM)... Kuertin (WWII, I think)... and Harold Holt got eaten by the shark. *salutes Holt* what an Aussie way to go.

Australia's worst prime minister. He backstabbed Bob Hawke... who I also don't like.
Whitlam (reverse chronological order from Howard)
He lost the election in a landslide IIRC, and Malcom Fraser took over.
.... Menzies (longest serving PM)...
Assuming John Howard is up for another term.
Kuertin (WWII, I think)...
John Curtin. He died in office, and many attributed the war to his death (as in, the stress killed him). He was a good Labor PM, I think. He was replaced by Menzies I believe.

I've heard conspiracy nutbags say that Holt got picked up by a Soviet Sub. Actually, I don't think they were being serious.

I thought the sub was Japanese... and disguised as a shark.
