it really doesn´t matter what they´ve done to earn a dead cat. the point is that it was funny as hell.

you probably know how it can be fun to annoy your buddies for no good reason. it´s the same principle only that your fun - indecency threshhold is lower than that of others.
These weren't his 'buddies,' they were total strangers just trying to do their job, yes?
yes. and the principle behind it remains the same. get fun by annoying other people.
I understand there are people who find this brand of 'look at me and what an asshole I can be' as funny, but sorry, that's not the majority of us and no, I don't get it.
i believe you´re wrong. but if it´s not the majority it´s still a very large group of people. otherwise i couldn´t explain that shows in which people are annoyed to get laughes from your audience are that popular.
tom green did that, ali g does that, lots of others do it, the hidden camera shows are basicly the exact same thing and they´ve been around for ages.
I'm sure it can provide a 5-year-old with a laugh, but it's just disturbing that somebody old enough to drive would think it's even comprehensible to pull this shit on other people.
nah, it´s good fun for the whole family
Well, all I can say is 'don't try this at home, kids' .... if you come down to my office and spread shit in somebody's desk, they probably don't laugh .... and you probably wake up in intensive care.

Don't fuck with people, and they won't fuck you up .... forget that rule, and you are liable to end up hurting.

the trick is to bring a camera team and have a tv station to back you up financially for law suits and the stuff you destroyed.

None of that stuff does you much good in the morgue, but it's probably quite a comfort to your next of kin.

No, I was just raised by people who thought that, although having an ass is unavoidable, BEING one isn't.
Yet, here you are, being an ass.

This kind of judgemental attitude really gets under my skin, "I don't think it's funny, so you shouldn't be allowed to think it's funny either! RAR!"
It's about one micron removed from the mindset that recoils in horror from a naked boobie.

When some sort of consensus is formed that agrees that Chmee's Standard for What Constitutes Humor is the standard we should all adopt, screech your shrill condemnations of material that doesn't live up to your bland expectations.
Until then, deal with the with the fact that people laugh at things you don't approve of.

Gimme a fuckin' break Frank ... anybody over nursery school is familiar with the concept of 'rude' ... unless they were raised by rabid hyenas.

Do I condemn people for finding sophomoric stupidity humorous? No, to each their own, but I don't understand it. I condemn people for actually DOING the rude shit ... rude = no class, why the fuck should I applaud a lack of class?

No, 100% the opposite, i assure you. I live by that motto, 'don't fuck with me and I won't fuck you up' ..... I'm a very pleasant person as long as you don't jack me around, I haven't been in a fight of any kind in 20 years ... but when you're 6'5 and 230 lbs., people tend to avoid doing the stupid shit that would make you want to beat them up.

But ... there's no limit to human stupidity, so I certainly don't rule out the possibility that somebody with no common sense whatsoever will push that button someday.

Ahh, thank you.

Not only do you prove with your own words EXACTLY what I suspected, that what offends your sense propriety should indeed be condemned, but additionally you aren't capable of connecting that link yourself.

Hmm, why am I reminded of the Fundie cop-out of "Hate the sin, not the sinner" bullshit?

no seriously, people who react exactly like you are perfect for that kind of humor.
it apparently annoys you like hell and you threaten to beat the humorist up and even better to kill him (well, we all know that you wouldn´t do that infront of a camera and several whitnesses).

but you get angry and that´s the exact part in which the fun part lies. if you didn´t get angry at all it wouldn´t be funny. getting your victim angry is the whole point.

the fact that you´re big and strong would only add to the fun because you´d be angred by a tiny whimp like green.

the worst thing that can happen to tom green or a clone of him is that the victim doesn´t get angry, reacts in a witty way and counter annoys.

Wasn't this locked about thirty seconds ago? Ah well, no matter.

Frankly, I would be pissed if I was a veterinarian and someone wasted my time by bringing in a dead and decomposing cat. As such, I would tell him that it has to be put down and charge him for my time and euthanasia of the cat. :P I would then bodily remove him from my office.

Will you settle for me shaking my head in sad acknowledgment that we don't speak the same language? What you consider perfectly acceptable, I see as a miserable failure by someone's parents to instill the most basic concepts that allow one to live within a society.

Somebody lock this POS or at least take it back to a discussion of art.

What you fail to see is that behavior designed to be outrageous for comedy's sake on television is NOT a guide for behavior in the real world.

Do we not speak the same language? Yes, apparently; because where I see a harmless and hilarious prank, you see some sort of breach of a moral code, or more incomprehensibly, an encouragement to emulate that behavior.

Maybe we're talking about different things. If Green and his ilk's pranks are just scripted with actors, I could care less, it's what they do to people who aren't willing participants in the real world that strikes me as simply stupid.

And... we come full circle.

If you can't understand that in order to be funny, a prank has to be unscripted and perpetrated on the unsuspecting, then you truly do need to buy a sense of humor....or stick to Bing Crosby movies.

Then I don't see why you specifically said this shit wasn't a guide for behavior in the real world .... it IS behavior in the real world. Why would a nitwit with a camera get an exemption from the same code of behavior as everybody else? Can he start sniping old people with a rifle or molest preschoolers, too, in the pursuit of 'outrageous' laughs, or is there actual conduct that crosses a line in this genre of schlock entertainment?

For the purposes of being TELEVISED, you nincompoop!

"Written", "consent", and "waiver".

An utterly ridiculous, predictable, and outrageous employment of ye olde slippery slope.

Giving written consent to air footage of you AFTER THE FOOTAGE IS SHOT is pre-arranged and scripted?

Really, what kind of tortuous manipulation of reality did it take for you to come up with that one?

So, you're saying that acting like a moron to 10 people is not really bad manners as long as #11 signs a waiver to let you put it on tv? Otherwise, the fact that you get sometimes get waivers has *nothing* to do with the fact that it's still just a dickhead who feels free to act like a dickhead because somebody will film him doing it.

No, idiot, I'm saying that you cannot air footage of a prank involving an unwitting party unless that unwitting party signs a waiver giving permission to broadcast it!
I'm saying that you cannot have a solid grasp of reality in order to misrepresent that to mean I changed positions to promoting scripted pranks.
Otherwise, the fact that you get sometimes get waivers has *nothing* to do with the fact that it's still just a dickhead who feels free to act like a dickhead because somebody will film him doing it.
Back to point A, your personal taste and sense of propriety being easily offended.
