They've been meaning to get rid of this one man revolution for ages. Honestly, not surprising. He was making the party a laughing stock.

I understand he's going to call his party 'Veritas' as this is Latin for truth, I can't be the only be the only person wondering what the Latin for “slimy , self obsessed, rascist, egomaniacal, xenophobic fuck” is.

Also isn't Latin kind of an odd choice of language for a europhobe, whats wrong with a good solid English party name? Thats what I want to know.

He wants to sound respectable. It's obviously a joke then.

Much as I like to see UKIPs freak show of xenophobes tearing itself apart like this and can't wait for 'Veritas' to fail abjectly I really was hoping they'd stay together till after the next general election and do the country a favour by splitting the Tory vote costing them a shed load of seats.

Last poll I hard of put the tories losing seats to the liberals, and labour staying about where they are. I'm not sure we need UKIP to do that.

To me it sounds that Kilroy's a sore loser, he seems to have expected to walk in and be made leader of UKIP, that's not happened so he's taken a hissy fit.

It's true that the tories are still doing very badly and will hopefully loose quite a few seats to the liberals and maybe even some to Labour. There are many marginals where the tories have majorities in the low thousands and hundreds which due to the continuing inability of the tories to get their act together are already being targeted by Labour and the Liberals. It will be tough going though as in many places the Consservative vote at the last election was about as low as could be hoped for and this is where UKIP come in.

With our fptp system even a small swing in the right place can make all the difference, if UKIP poll well they are unlikely to win any seats themselves but by taking few thousand votes per constituency (votes which will mainly come from soft tory voters) in seats throughout Britain they will turn Tory marginals into Liberal and Labour marginals. I can but hope.

Fucking Kilroy why couldn't he have held is ego in check for just anther 6 months or so?

Is he ever the sore loser, he must realise that all he'll manage to do by setting up his own party which has no chance of success is to weaken UKIP.

And why is he sulking anyway? Because a long established party that he's been in for a matter of months won't make him leader, why the fuck should they? That guy is so in love with himself it makes me sick.

Oh I don't think he should have been the leader, not by any matter of means, but Kilroy probably thought because he was a 'public figure' that he'd be the ideal choice.

The Liberals will likely make a larger impact this year, but I don't see them becoming a real threat to the Tories, as shambolic as their platform is right now. Labour will take heed of this election if it shows otherwise fringe parties get even more power.

Personally, I'm amazed UKIP hasn't fallen apart already, and I don't think it would have mattered all that much in the coming elections, but we'll see.

I was hoping UKIP could splinter the Tory vote a little, I think if the Tories actually lose seats after 8 years in the wilderness they may start to come apart.

If they don't win the next election (which seems like a foregone conclusion at this point unless something extreme happens) then by the end of the next term the Tories will have been out of power for longer than any other time in the 240 odd years since the original Tory party (if you choose to define it as such) came to power.

For the natural party of government that has got to hurt and I can see them getting very irate, which should be fun when the grass roots chooses another lame duck to lead the party.
I have got my heart set on an SDP style break away party if the Tories lurched to the right (as they probably will), of course it depends if there is enough real ideological spirit left in the party (or enough medium names on the left of the party to form a break away party).

Of course I'm probably being a little optimistic and we will likely have to wait until 2010.
