The black portion of the station staff had threatened a walk out if he wasn't dismissed, they didn't want him reciving special treatment.

Our school superintendent here got blasted once for using the word nigger in conversation in the proper sense "ignorant" he luckily got to keep his job.

It's one thing to purposely use a potentially 'dangerous' word. From what's described of the tape, though, it's pretty clear this guy did exactly what I described a few posts back, and some people are just being stupidly uppity over it.

This is a job where, if you're a woman, you get fired for starting to look over 40 .... the job is 100% about IMAGE .... there's many ways to blow that image, and this guy found an easy one, end of story.

This reminds me of what happened here in DFW when I was a kid. Brad Sham and Verne Lundquist were doing the radio broadcast for a Cowboys/ Eagles game. Sham got tongue-tied and instead of saying "punt coverage" said "CUNT POVERAGE"! Lunquist could do nothing but laugh until halftime.
