Wow. My parents are reconsidering. I need to get my advisor to call them up to inform them just how many written orders to turn in all assignments typed I've received over the past few days and I might get my comp back this weekend.

I'll still limit my time online to less than it was before, but at least I won't have to worry about all this saving stuff on message boards nonsense.

It is a problem when old people can't recognize that computers aren't toys. Imagine if 10 years ago, your parents prohibited you from using pens because you did a lot of doodling back then and your grades weren't good because of it?

The power of reason actually managed to triumph over the Wall of Ignorance? Damn, I need to buy some Lotto tickets to see if the levels of improbability hold up.

Hey, Rouge, I'm wondering. Considering your parents' bizarre opinion of computers, what's their opinion of video games?

Also, you seemed to only exclusively mention your father's opinion of this fiasco, but what was your mother's say in all this?

Video games? Oh, obvious complete waste of time. We have to hide game CDs from Dad. As for Mom, she's the one who got all pissed off after the LAN party and told me it wasn't going back with me. She was mad because it was 3 am, but Dad held her to it. *Shrug*

Of course they're a waste of time: they're games!! They're supposed to be just for fun and recreation.

You have to actually hide them. like if they were cigarettes or something? That's sad.

Jesus, did they even let you have toys when you were a kid? If they did, then your parents (especially your father - he seems like the one with the most psychotic hang-ups) are hypocrites.

No no, Dad is of the firm belief that kids should be handed a baseball and basketball and told to go outside and play. It's the whole "When I was your age..." thing. He can't conceive of just sitting around all day doing nothing, because when he was 16 he bailed hay for neighboring farmers all day and then went to play baseball until Grandma had to go find him. If you recreate sitting down, then you're a lazy bum. :P

The one nice thing about parents like that is once you're no longer dependent on them, you can boil their skin off with words alone. Not an even trade, but DAMN satisfying.

I suppose your mother bailed hay and played sports too, or does laziness only apply to the 'laboring bull-oxen' that men are supposed to be? :P I'm surprised they didn't brainwash you into being as fucking loony and deranged as they are...

Oh well, sanity triumphs again!

I congratulate you. But they don't accept handwriting in your university anymore? Damn, I have to make them implement the all-computer society in mine faster - it'd conceal my near total lack of calligraphic ability.

I've had several professors and instructors request that I turn in typed assignments rather than hand-written ones, because my handwriting is so hard to read, even so far as needing to transcribe essays and tests.

Wow, I missed this whole drama. Sorry to hear that your parents are Luddites, Rogue. Perhaps you should give them an electronic encylopedia and challenge them to figure out how to look up "Luddite" in it.
For a time, I considered sparing your wretched little planet Cybertron.
But now, you shall witnesss ... its dismemberment!

Wow, I missed this whole thing. Glad to hear that you'll still be around, Rogue.
