So would it have been better or approved if the tournament had been based on MADDEN Football? There's plenty of violence there but I guess no one dies in that game.
Since it's associated with the NFL I think a good argument can be made that in encourages gambling and sexism (cheerleaders), and maybe even bing beer drinking (because of those Coors Light adds with the twins).
Would that be better than trying to defend your planet from evil invaders?
Now that I think about it. This school board would probably be against a tournament using the old Space Invaders game because there's killing.

What really burns my ass though, is that the kids thought ahead and actually got all the parents of participating students to sign a form stating they knew that the game was violent.
Maybe that they have all this publicity, they could host the event someplace else? Assuming anywhere else in small-sounding Puyallup has the capacity to host such an event.
