Nothing happened. Well... stuff did, but almost none of it is important.

The Sabai have ended their trading to the Commonwealth, and the battle in the Klingon Empire is cooling down.

I'm digging for some info for my next post during my "lunch hour" ;)
What happened around XHJ-178, and what might the name of that region of waste be called?

It was the location of a Sixth Imperium base. Heavily defended, planetoids everywhere, you get the idea. I think Halite attacked it, so it's quite a mess now and the defenses are probably still operable.

Oh, and guys involved in the Klingon blockade, there's currently a Klingon battleship busy chasing a small corvette toward the border. Anyone want to pick up on that story?

Would it be painfully improbable that some old space station or trade fortress could found (derelict, but still a hive of brigands and bandits...) towards the edge of this region?

I'm not sure if it was attacked as all of that happend after I stopped posting, so it was probably just ignored. I figure even Halite wasn't crazy enough to try and provoke the Imperium. It was probably just abandoned by the Imperium in the following dark age and left on an automatic defense mode.

OK, I'm taking care of it. I can't believe the Klingons were stupid enough to follow you toward the the UTR border. They're fucked, but Ragles in an interesting position too.

You could find one, but it would not be in good shape. Even before Halites Great War that area was the sight of the Vong Incursion and the war between them and the UTR. XHJ-178 was an Imperium Naval Station and also a center for trade between the Imperium and Milky Way Galaxy. So it wouldn't be too unlikely to find an old derelict Terran space station in the area, though it wouldn't be in good shape after all this time.

Historically, how active has extradimensional hyperspace (B5-style) been? How many, if any, of the parties in the Great War made use of it, and what-all might be left over there? Any hazards of note beyond the general bitchy navigation?

Few weeks if it's simple, few months at most I'd guess.

Anything on hyper? I've been thinking of writing up an encounter there, but it's hard when I don't know the history of XD-hyper use.

Feel free, otherwise I'll do it in the next day or so.
There are two kinds of people in the world: the kind who think it’s perfectly reasonable to strip-search a 13-year-old girl suspected of bringing ibuprofen to school, and the kind who think those people should be kept as far away from children as possible … Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between drug warriors and child molesters.” - Jacob Sullum

Besides what I gather that the Aquarien Union is a pirate filled place corrupted to the high heavens, anything else about it?

The Commonwealth has a small fortified naval resupply base at it's border. Nothing besides that.

I have a good portion of my fleet there right now... I might not be too happy if you decided to barge in.

As for why it is that way, it relates back to the last STGOD in this universe, where the Azegart, TSC, PRC and someone else (don't remember) invaded them. Near the end of that STGOD, all of the above powers left, leaving it without anybody to stop the depredations of pirates.

I guess the Azegart are somewhat down in numbers. The war and aftermath wasn't to gently.
IIRC I wiped out one planet, just to be sure... :)

I wouldn't think so. Though you could always just rechart the old Rhea-Rigel hyperlane, it'd be much shorter == less distance to patrol for pirates.

*looks closely* I didn't notice that red line before, that would be most convinent. How long has it been since that path was "abandoned"?

Probably since the UTR pulled a fighting retreat (ie right after ASVS STGOD, before STGOD2). Might be some debris and old hulks in the way to get rid of, though, since Rigel was one battlefield in the Halite campaign.

Sounds good, I'll start writing up posts concerning it... and the Fenari on my pager tonight.

Edit: Rhea is just a Fenari world, right? Nothing painfully evil or nasty there, right?
