Some dumb NJO questions
I have some very stupid and easily answerable questions about NJO. However, since a googling turned up absolutely nothing, and the search function seems limited to things not in the archive, I must turn to you.
How is the Galactic Alliance different than the Republic? What is the government like?
What is the state of the Jedi Order after TUF?
What is the state of the military/navy after TUF?
How many planets were ravaged by the Vong?
What other major things should be known after NJO that are important?

Its not any different just in name and all the beurocrats are dead now
The Jedi have been cut down in size but are still functional
Military is down pretty low ship wise. Dont know about the Army
About a third of the planets were hit by the Vong
The Vong were able to get off scott free... only having to disarm

Re: Some dumb NJO questions
It's more like a confederation, rather than Republic. Other than that, it's pretty similar...Nieztchean Uber-Amoeba wrote: How is the Galactic Alliance different than the Republic? What is the government like?
Much better than it was at the start of the series. The Jedi now have government representation in the Chief of State's High Council (half Jedi, half govt. leaders) and are seen as heroes throughout the galaxy. They really get out of that "all violence is bad" crap that they had going on in the first few books. What is the state of the Jedi Order after TUF?
They've suffered major losses, but seem to be rapidly supplanting the fleet with new vessels and new classes. The military recieved alot of the credit in ending the war. What is the state of the military/navy after TUF?
Ravaged? Depends on your definition. If by ravaged you mean destroyed like Ithor was, then not that many. If you mean ravaged as in Vong-formed, then hundreds or thousands. And if you mean ravaged as in occupied, many hundreds of thousands (that's my assumption at least). How many planets were ravaged by the Vong?
The Vong are sent off with Zonama Sekot to the far reaches of the galaxy. What other major things should be known after NJO that are important?
The galaxy is seemingly united under the banner of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances.
Coruscant is planned to be rebuilt over the next decade or so, though they are not going to kill the World Brain.
The new galactic Capital is stationed at the Mid-rim city world of Denon.
The Jedi plan to establish Academies on Ossus and Dathomir.
Admiral Ackbar dies of natural causes.
There's probably more, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.
* Galactic Alliance: Many of the corrupt officals that hampered the war either died at Coruscant (Viqi Shesh) or were booted from office (Pwoe). It's literally a fresh start.
* Jedi: By the time of Vector Prime, Luke's praxeum had produced around 100 Jedi. The Vong reduced the New Jedi to roughly half their number; a complete list of the survivors can be found in TUF.
* Planets; roughly a third of the galaxy. Some were only occupied, others like Ithor and New Plympto were totally destroyed and now incapable of supporting life.
* Naval Forces -- The combined galactic forces suffered losses as heavy as the Vong; the final battle for Coruscant alone cost over three hundred capital ships and eleven thousand starfighters.
Post-NJO: Nothing yet; Troy Denning, author of Star by Star and Tatooine Ghost is penning a trilogy due out later this year that picks up five years after TUF.

Don't know. But many thousands.Nieztchean Uber-Amoeba wrote:So how many ships are we talking here? 1,000? 1,000,000?
The started with a hundred, and ended with about 30 or so.How many jedi? 900? 2,000?
No. They gained marginal control of 1/3rd of the Galaxy. They only "destroyed" (as in made completely uninhabitable) a few of them, namely Sernpidal, Ithor, New Plympto, Barab I, Bastion, and Muunilinst off the top of my head. The Vong destroyed 17 million worlds and got off scot free? What the frell?
They were exiled to Zonama Sekot, and done so because they didn't want any more casulties, and the Warriors were enchanted by the living world. Rather than risk continuing the war, they left the Vong to go to some outlying system on the "offspring" of their primodial homeworld.

The ones mentioned above.Nieztchean Uber-Amoeba wrote:So, how many worlds are no longer inhaboted by anbyone after the Vong occupied them?
A large Yammosk-like creature (or don't you know what a yammosk is?) which has telepathic abilities and can coordinate all the bio-tech creatures the vong employ.Coruscant has a 'world brain'? What is it?
A living planet, mobile. What is this 'Zonama Sekot'?
They're not.30 jedi... That can't be good. Even assuming all of them were Masters...
The exact count is unknown, but the more prominent ones were already mentioned.Nieztchean Uber-Amoeba wrote:So, how many worlds are no longer inhaboted by anbyone after the Vong occupied them?
The Vong's ships are all linked by a Yammosk. An essentially giant brain, the War Coordinator directs ships at the fleet commander's bidding utilizing subtle gravitivc and telepathic manipulations. It took the NR over two years to figure out how to jam the signals, giving them an edge until the end of the war when the Vong were able to, heh, adapt. They can also detect Jedi.Coruscant has a 'world brain'? What is it?
Now the World Brain is essentially a larger Yammosk. Known also as a Dhyudram, it coordinates the Vong-forming of a conquered world as directed by the Shapers (and in the case of Coruscant, the Supreme Overlord).
ZS is a living world, capable of achieving hyperspace jumps and growing organic ships. Obi-Wan and Anakin visited the world in the Prequel novel Rogue Planet in search of a missing Jedi, one Vergere. They discovered that ZS had been attacked by an alien race from outside the Republic's borders that also used organic tech and that Vergere had allowed herself to be taken captive in order to save the world. What is this 'Zonama Sekot'?
You can easily guess which race it was. More on that later.
Well, then-Gov. Tarkin (Yes, you heard me right) had taken an interest in ZS's ships and led a strike-force of 'decomissioned' Trade Fed ships to acquired them. ZS jumped into hyperspace and that was the last anyone saw of her for 50 years.
Vergere, having risen in the Warmaster's eyes for actions during the first two years on behalf of the Vong (and used methods unknon to Luke's Jedi on Force cloaking to avoid detection by Yammosk) passed the tale onto a captured Jacen Solo (Star by Star, Traitor). Bringing him back to the GFAA, Jacen passed the tale onto his uncle Destiny's Way.
Following Vergere's death, Luke was determined to find the living world of Zonama Sekot, convinced that the planet held the key to containing and ending the Vong threat once and for all. Luke reasoned that because there had been no sightings of Zonama Sekot in known space, logic dictated that the planet was either gone from the galaxy or merely in an unexplored area - the Unknown Regions.
After months of searching, Luke and his team finally found the world on the edge of the UR. Although reluctant to join a cycle of violence -- which went against its ideals -- Sekot finally agreed to join the war effort. Jumping into the Core, the planet was used as a base of operations by the Jedi during the final assualt on Coruscant, in part to distract the Vong; the presence of a living planet in their religion marked doom for them.
It turned out that Zonama Sekot was the Vong's world of origin, Yuzzhan’tar, yet it was not Yuzzhan’tar. It was in fact a seed of the Vong’s homeworld, launched into the cosmos by the planet following the rampage launched by their ancestors which consumed their world.
They certainly have their work cut of for them.30 jedi... That can't be good. Even assuming all of them were Masters...

I dont even think there were 500 Jedi at the begining of the NJO, I dont believe under Lukes Jedi Order there was ever over 4 or 500Nieztchean Uber-Amoeba wrote:How many jedi? 900? 2,000?

The Heretics are a sort of sub-group of the Shamed Ones since I don't think any of the un-Shamed honestly joined the movement.Tychu wrote:Well the Vong that got off scott free were the "Heritics" and those deformed ones you know who im talking about i cant remember their names
Anyway, all the survivng Yuuzhan Vong (Shamed or unShamed) were put on trial for war crimes, I think. Then, they were put on Zonama Sekot. THe ones that suffered the most were the Warriors since they were denied their weapons.
I believe it was specificly stated to be about a hundred Jedi in the second book (Dark Tide I). At the beginning of the war.Tychu wrote:I dont even think there were 500 Jedi at the begining of the NJO, I dont believe under Lukes Jedi Order there was ever over 4 or 500Nieztchean Uber-Amoeba wrote:How many jedi? 900? 2,000?

Nom Anor is an exception. And Nen Yim was a heretic, but not part of the rebellion.JediMaster415 wrote:The Heretics are a sort of sub-group of the Shamed Ones since I don't think any of the un-Shamed honestly joined the movement.Tychu wrote:Well the Vong that got off scott free were the "Heritics" and those deformed ones you know who im talking about i cant remember their names

It's alluded to that many Master Shapers often become heretics, due to the fact that they get to see that there is no 8th Cortex at all.Praxis wrote:

Many non-shamed workers also joined the Heretics, then there was the separate rebellion led by the Quorealist Vong, who never believed that Shimrra's rule was legitimate anyways.
