I agree with JMS, fariy dust. With all the lack of cleaning in the universe, there had to be a lot of dust around.

No, Minbari use Nuclear Fusion too.

Seriously on a canon standpoint, there has been no mention of anything beyond that of fusion in the show. Anything else has to be taken with a grain of salt.
