Kamino help

Post by PainRack »

Does anyone with ITW AOTC know whether there is a distance listing or a galactic map showing where Kamino is? I'm trying to guesstimate some speed calcs from AOTC.

It gotten to the level where when Piett said "that ship could be halfway across the galaxy by now.", he wasn't using a hyperbolic statement.

Try the galactic map at Nav-Computer. The webmaster seems to be on the ball about location references, as far as I can tell. You can find Kamino at the southeastern quadrant of the map, to the right of Tatooine in the Arkanis Sector.

That site is full of shit. Neither Kamino or Tatooine are located within the main body of the Galaxy: Tatooine is on the edge within the Outer Rim, while Kamino is outside the Galaxy proper near a dwarf galaxy called the Rishi Maze. Just using the NJO map as a basis alone is a fucking waste of time.

PR: Kamino is 70k LY from the Core.

where does that come from, since the only distance from Kamino to anywere is 12 Parsec (south of Rishi Maze (IIRC)) number from AOTC.

And bit bit off-topic where Starforge System (Rakata Homeworld) is, the KOTOR map seem indicate that it near the galactic core if look galaxy from above, but it's probaly above or under the main plane (otherwise KOTOR makes no sense).

Does ITW AOTC carry a scaled map similar to that found in TPM? If so, can it be scanned?

Yes it does. I can bring it home to scan it tomorrow if you want.

That Galaxy Map that Star Wars Insider gave about 2 years ago is pretty cool, i use that and Kamino is just about near the bottom in the middle of the map

Unfortunately, that map's no better than the one above. In fact, the positions of Kamino and others are exactly the same. I'd guess that the SWI map is based on the NJO one.

I remember there was a scene in AOTC where they showed the position of Kamino on a galactic map. As I remember it was somewhere in the outer arm disc, a little less than 2/3 of the way to the edge of the galaxy.
BTW it's erroneous to conclude that Kamino was outside the galaxy because it wasn't in the Republic. Remember, the Republic is around 54 million systems and the SW galaxy has 400 BILLION systems total. That means for every Republic system in the SW galaxy there are seven THOUSAND unclaimed systems. The Republic's pretty thinly spread; even assuming the vast majority of those systems are uninhabitable there's enough room there to hide a million Kamino's.
