Steam problem

Post by Rye »

Ok, there seems to be a problem I'm having when trying to make a level in this new fangled hammer editor; when I try to compile a level and play it, it complains about a missing file, specifically filesystem_steam.dll in the E:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\[steam account]\half-life 2 deathmatch\bin folder. I did a search for the file and found one in the ordinary hl2 bin folder, so i copied that one and put it in the hl2dm one to see if it'd fix it. But alas, it still couldn't load it. Google seems to think it's a fairly common problem and I was wondering if anyone here had any ideas on how to fix it? Preferably one that doesn't entail reinstallation. ;)

Only thing I can think of would be to try extracting the file from the Steam cache.

Weird, it works now. I refreshed the SDK stuff and this time (but not last time) it must've downloaded the right file.
