I have a problem with uninstalling AVG 6.0, and I'm hit on this plan to delete the reg keys so I can overwrite it with 7.0.
The problem is, what are the approiates backups I should do? Exporting the registry,system restore on, create bootup disk, anything else? Once that is done, I guess I can just delete the key right>

You should do this anyway periodically.
And never trust system restore.
