[Suspension of disbelief debate] Furies vs Empire

Post by Tod zu den SD.net Idioten »

(I say suspension of disbelief because this involves a ST novel series and hence cannot be debated as a regular part of the ongoing STvSW debate due to the non-canonicity of ST novels. Consider it a standalone debate in this regard.)

The Furies from the ST: Invasion series, at the height of their power 5K years before the TNG era, vs the Galactic Empire.

(Obviously you'll only be able to debate this if you've read the Invasion series).

Which would win?

Tod: Refresh my memory (its been at least 5 years if not longer), they controlled the entire galaxy, enslaved the races of modern trek and were destroyed (or laid low) by a cobination slave revolt plus some metal insect species right?

Thats about all I can remember.

They didn't control the entire galaxy, just the Alpha and Beta quadrants in all likelihood. How powerful were their ships then? All we really know is that their capital ships tended to lose when put up against equivalent numbers of TNG capital ships.

At the height of their power they had millions of ships.

Their last great stand against the Unclean IIRC consisted of a fleet of 1,000,000 ships.

They had wormhole-generation tech which could and did destroy an entire star system as a mere side-effect.

They had a weapon capable of projecting an intense, unreasoning terror into the minds of all the inhabitants of whatever ship, planet etc. it was targeted at. The kind of terror that reduced hardened grown men (including Worf) to curled up on the floor in a fetal position crying and screaming in fear.

Their ships blew the fuck out of AQ and BQ ships. One ship destroyed most of a Klingon fleet.

In any case, the klingon fleet they decimated was from TOS, and their wormhole used the death of the sun to fuel the wormhole's sending of a planet back to the Alpha Quadrant, it wasn't merely a side effect.
