I like the squad picture. Hopefully the rest will keep up. This looks to be a good look into more visual aspects of the book at the very least.

Great concept art (funny that every spider droid is called Dwarf Spider, must simply be different models serving roughly the same role). And it´s nice to see another example of Lucas working with EU material.

Don't get worked up guys; odds that the devs will say 'consumers aren't looking for simple, unambitious SW-branded games - they're anticipating a quality squad-based experience with a minimum of FPS cliches' = 0.

Come on, even Deus Ex had man-sized vent shafts, crates and (gulps) jumping puzzles. :P

Just a quick question. Now i know the game takes place before the book so the squad we saw in Hard Contact isnt there but are you suppose to be Darman and his other group? or one of the other guys in the squad we see in the book. Maby Atin? he lost 2 squads

If someone can confirm the RC will include the Clone Wars cartoon short carbines with thick-ass barrels that spam like SMGs, then I'm sold. Akimbo, even. Team config? Objective-based teamplay? Varied tactical options?

Who am I kidding. It'll be a prettier Dark Forces. Fuck.

How much about the game is actually known?

I'm just curious as to whether your comments have any basis in reality, or whether it's just empty bitching.

It will not be a prettier Dark Forces. It's squad-based FPS, a mix of Ghost Recon/Rainbow Six and Star Wars. There's plenty of previews Stark.

They're Republic Commandos, not ARC Troopers. Republic Commandos use DC-17m carbines- "m" for modular, with grenade launcher, sniper etc attachments.

Well I consider myself chastened. Still unoptimistic, however. :)

If its team based, shouldn't there be flexibility weapon wise? None of the previews I read went into any detail on format beyond 'team based tactical' which is pretty loose. Anyway, this is hardly the thread for it.

*Checks out site. Pronunces.*

Halo 2 copy, more or less, IMO. However, I'll be more than glad to play it if it ever comes my way, as it sure does look sweet...

Well, having played the game, on X-box and PC, I would buy it.

The mission I played, or the chunk of it, was destroy a Confed command center on IIRC a Trade Fed facility after being seperated from your team.

It looks nice, and its fun. The squad command system is interesting, you can command your team mates to do various things, also, throughout the level there points where, if you illuminate them with your target cursor, flash up a "ghost" image of a trooper.

Example, at a junction there is a security station which produces endless streams of droids, so a guy pipes up " a demo charge there sir!"

You zap various positions with your cursor, and your guys take up position, one far back as a sniper, two others close up to take down the droids as they emerge, then you go up and set the demolition charge while they cover you.

You can also zap bacta points (weird on board in a trade fed installation) and they will go charge up.

breaching doors, you can either have them cover the team while someone slices it, or you can slap a breaching charge on it. My favorite this one, One sniper, one crouched just to the side of the door, another stood ready to move in.

You set the demo, then take position, it blows, then the crouched Commando hurls a concussion grenade in through the door and you go in shooting :D

The commandos appeared to have decent initiative, but they don't charge off and get killed, they use cover all the time, and switch weaponry i.e. Destroyers get anti-tank, etc.

Why would bacta be weird in Trade Fed installation (nemodians are organic and the CIS is not above of using mercs.) and I think the Commando armor's systems are designed to interact with CIS hardware.

There are previews and walk throughs on the actual LucasArts site, but they've just changed it to shitty Macromedia Flash format, which is fucking slow as, so have fun locating and watching them!

I didn't think the demo was out yet (according the site), is it available for download?

Well, given that bots seem to do the majority of the work, I wouldn't have expected bacta points to be scattered around, a medical station for the organic personnel, sure, but multiple bacta points ?

*shrug* Like the fact its sprayed onto their armour, its a nit pick point that has to be worked in , so it bothers me not.

Its quite amusing, I found my sniper or heavy weapons guy, he jumped out and knifed a destroyer in the back of the neck

That Halo2 comment reminded me of the hilarious way every Xbox review I've read (even Mercenaries, FFS) mentions Halo at least once. Only one good game the what now? :D Comparing any game with Swat3-style squad commands to Halo is so retarded it buckles my shit filters, causing me actual physical pain.

Demo eh? I'll see what the mule has to say about THAT!
