Best/Worst Cover
What do you think it the best cover song you've ever heard? Worst?
(as in cover a song by another artist)

worst: there was this eurotechnodancfloorwhateveritscalled version of tnt by a band whose name i´ve forgotten.
best: depends on.
if you take the absolute result doreen shaffer did a damn good job on laurel aitkens "sugar, sugar". "ghost riders in the sky" by johnny cash was damn cool too.
if you look on the improvement span TM i´d say marilyn manson scored on tainted love. the original sucked man tit wheras MMs verson was quite ok.

There's so many good ones I don't know where to start, so I'll just put up a nice long list. I'll count all the live concert ones too.
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Little Wing (Jimi Hendrix)
Cowboy Junkies - Sweet Jane (Lou Reed)
Tori Amos - Daniel (Elton John)
Tori Amos - Angie (Rolling Stones)
Tori Amos - Imagine (John Lennon)
Chantal Kreviazuk - Always a Woman (Billy Joel)
Chantal Kreviazuk - Redemption Song (Bob Marley)
Chantal Kreviazuk - Stay(Faraway, So Close!) (U2)
Tori and Chantal do some amazing covers on their live concerts, you never know which ones they'll pull out of the magic bag.
It's been confirmed that Christina Aguilera will be doing a cover of "Stairway to Heaven". It's not out yet but I don't need to hear it to know that it'll be about the worst thing ever in music. It makes me sick just thinking about it.

aerius: I'll vote for you if you sleep with me.
Lusankya: Deal!
Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either.

Best Covers:
Metallica - Turn the Page (originally by Bob Seger)
Aerosmith - Love me two times (originally by The Doors)
Beatles - Twist and Shout (originally by the Isley Brothers?)
George Thorogood - One Scotch, One Burbon, One Beer (originally a blues standard by some blues artist I can't recall)
Worst Covers:
Madonna - American Pie. Madonna deserves to rot in hell for this debacle. The song is cheesy enough, thank you.
Britney Spears - I love Rock n' Roll. Nobody embodies the female rock n' roll vocalist like britney! Yeah, right. The cover has everything but the hard rocker attitude that Joan Jett actually had.
anybody other than Stevie Ray Vaughan doing Superstition - for some reason, just about every small time band feels the urge to do this Stevie wonder number....and do it poorly.

It gets worse, Christina Aguthingamabob is also doing a cover of "God Save the Queen", and Mariah Carey is gonna do a remake of Def Leppard's "Bringing on the Heartbreak". Please excuse me while I go puke in the toilet...

"The Wire" is the best show in the history of television. Watch it today.

I like Motley Crüe's version of Helter Skelter as well as Ugly Kid Joe doing N.I.B., and White Zombie's version of Children of the Grave isn't bad.
Van Halen and You Really Got Me
Type O Negative's version of Cinnamin Girl is interesting.
The worst cover I've ever heard had to be Pat Boone doing Enter Sandman.
William Shatner doing Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds was really bad but very hilarious.
I also heard a Death Metal version of Iron Maiden's The Trooper. The music was great but the "singing" was horrible.

Best:
Tori Amos "Thank You" (Led Zeppelin)
Indigo Girls "Tangled Up in Blue" (Bob Dylan)
Worst:
Madonna "American Pie" (Don McLean)
techno version of "Carmina Burana" (Carl Orff)
That's all for now....

Jimi Hendrix, "All Along the Watchtower." Classic.
Worst is Madonna's "American Pie" or Britney Spears's mutilation of "I Can't Get no Satisfaction."

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

Ah, yes; All Along the Watchtower is truly a magnam opus. Smash Mouth's 'I'm a Believer' was pretty good.
Aaron Carter's mutiliation of pretty much every song he's ever sung comes to mind as 'worst cover'. I hope that little shit dies.

Oh, that reminds me--I think version of "Watchtower" by the Dave Matthews Band is totally kickass.
And Tori Amos' version of "She's Leaving Home" is lovely.
