Short answer, he joined the military. You know, the all voluntary force....

The Dems blew a golden opportunity. They knew about the purple fingers all day. They should have dyed their middle fingers and showed them to Dubya at every applause line. :finger:

Gah, it was an hour of fluff, really. SS needs something, but Bush backed off his hard core stance to one of 'give me suggestions'.

Tort reform but no plan.

Fundie shit, again.

Nice bit on the troops.

I think they should get 'their day' for the elections too, so......

Good TV with the Marine's partents and the Iraqi chick.

Speech = 53 Minutes.

Applause breaks = 68.

Wow. And average of more than one break for applause every minute. Oy.

I am. They haven't said much yet. They're at a commercial now, and should have their analylist (wow I spelled that really wrong) go over the speech when it ends.

I loved how the Democrats were not standing AND yelling "NO" about the Social Security thing.
Brit Hume babbling about SS.

Fox news commentary: lots of emotional Iraqi moments, the Iraqis are finally showing some gratitude. Bush will have trouble getting his Social Security reforms through (duh). The only place where Bush streched the truth in his speech was what happens after 2042 ( ). Comparing him to FDR...

The Democrats need an emergency IV drip of charismatic politicians. God. Fucking Daschle before, Polosi? Who can be inspired or like these people?

It would have been more direct and accurate if they all just took turns sucking his cock, but I don't think the FCC would allow that on live air.

Because marriage is a sacred institution and the foundation of society, it should not be re-defined by activist judges. For the good of families, children, and society, I support a constitutional amendment to protect the institution of marriage.

Did you notice how Harry Reid said that Dubya was just repeating the same old stuff and then himself proceeded to rehash pretty much John Kerry's entire platform?

Gah, it was a long winded 'we live in a nice country and I wanna make it better for my children' crap. He could have given more time to Pelosi and just said 'think of the children' and start pulling his hair out.

According to the two-page accident report, Laura Welch was driving her Chevrolet sedan on a clear night shortly after 8 p.m. on Nov. 6, 1963, when she drove into an intersection and struck a Corvair sedan driven by 17-year-old Michael Douglas.

...

The speed of Laura Bush's car was illegible on the report. The speed limit for the road was 55.
How well are you able to see at night going 55 mph? She got into a car accident. Young, inexperienced drivers tend to do that. So take that high horse, smash into nice pointy splinters, and shove it up your ass.

I would have loved to see Barak Obama deliver the rebuttal. He's the future of the party, and this would be his first nationally televised speech since the DNC.

Most drivers don't kill other drivers. They know that if you can't see well enough due to darkness or other conditions, you slow down in case you need to make a sudden stop. If not killing someone is your idea of being on a high horse, then you have low standards.

Funny how Ted Kennedy gets flogged for 35 years plus (and deservedly so, in my opinion) for killing someone with his reckless driving, but the Bushes' and Dick Cheney's problems behind the wheel are considered taboo and a low blow to bring up. If Hillary or Teresa Heinz or Tipper Gore had done it, they'd be crucified.

Awwwwww! Did I hurt your wittle feewings? Can't heckle the First Couple, can we? We should avert our gaze in their presence too -right? I reject your concession because watching your lame attempt to throw down and then making yourself look like a complete prick is too much fun.

How good of a driver is a 17 year old? Here's a clue: 14% of fatal car accidents involve a driver under twenty. Drivers under twenty make up only 6% of the driving. Why the hell do you think insurance costs drop rather drastically after you turn 25? News flash! Inexperienced drivers are usually bad drivers! You seem intent on proving that you're the dullest knife in the drawer.

Pointing out someone accidentally killed someone else when they were 17 is a low blow. Pointing out the someone drove off a bridge and left someone else to die isn't. Go ahead, bash Bush for his DUI conviction. Don't bash Laura Bush for an accident.

Heckle them for something that has a point to it. Otherwise people are apt to just call you a tinfoil hatter.
