In my opinion - Eldar do the best early on, but are the hardest late game. They don't get the massive long range death tanks like the Space Marines, or Chaos, they don't get sickeningly large swarms of soldiers and tough vehicles (killockans have more HP than dreads I think, plus are good long range anti-vehicle and close combat units) like the orks. That's the hard part. Fire prisms are keen, but they rarely kill anything.

Well rogue and I played out many an early game senario of the 2 mostly full groups of banshees plus a farseer versus a variety of different things an early space marine group might include, the Space Marines always lost, once he got my farseer early, and once at the end he got a banshee squad.

I just don't think there's any way of stoping that rush, other than turtling, hiding behind a turret, etc.

I guess we've proved that Space Marines suck ;)

No, we've proved that Relic can't balance the game. :P

You must concede that doing so requires considerable effort on my part, furthermore I have to spend all my time in combat, IE, no time building up more guys- you can just let that battle happen for the most part, and come back at me with a lot of hurtful tools.

No, because that battle happens, I lose, and then you raze my base. If that battle didn't matter then I wouldn't lsoe every time you pull that on me, yet I do.

Say, how fortuitous that that particular saying was at the bottom of your screen. I was looking for it to confirm something earlier and now I have it.

The Emperor's will is contradictory.

"Foolish are those who fear nothing, yet claim to know everything."

"Brave are those who know everything, yet fear nothing."

"It is better for a man to be afraid than to be happy."

"And they shall know no fear..."

Oops, I questioned the Emperor. Guess I'd best start playing Chaos now.

What's contradictory about those? It just says it's better to be afraid than happy. In which case

No Fear > Fear > Happiness.

Scouts
Scouts

servitor builds Arsenal.

That's the second one, aye?

First unit, assault Rines

secind regular Marines w/ h. Bolters.

My Smurf order:

Scout
Servitor
Scout

1st Serv builds Chapel-Barracks. 1st scout caps. 2nd serv helps barracks. 2nd scout caps. Servitors build LP while Marine Squad, Brother-Captain queued.

There are ways to stop Banshees, namely they involve a fair amount of dancing with your marine squads, making good use of your force commander, and having your scouts shoot to CC those banshees whenever possible.

Now an early scout rush that's pulled off right is nearly unstoppable. The only race capable of easily countering it is Chaos and that's cause they can get their Chaos Temple and first CSM squad out so early.

And Rogue and I aren't really that great of SM players. You should try go play the ladder and make your way up to the 1500's or something and see how it is. :P

*shrug* It's more fun playing against you guys.

I'm sure Space Marines have some strats that can wtFpwn people like this eldar one we got going. Getting assault marines early isn't a bad plan, at least they have some mobility. But that's really the Eldar thing, mobility. Still workin' on the late game eldar thing, it's not so easy, but it does require plenty of Brightlances ;)

I'll be up for a game around 7:30/8ish tonight if more than 1 or 2 people are around. A nice 2v2 or 3v3, or 2v2v2 or something nice and big would be great! :D

I was experimenting with a "Black Templar" army, and using assault squads almost exclusively early-midgame, adding in Terminators at late game. It was hard as hell, but I did beat the comp.

Note to self #1: If you decide to use an expand-fast marine stategy, go somewhere with it. Bty the time I went offensive I was behind in getting vehicles.

Note to self #2: x2 barracks works wonders, especially if the enemy has their whole army at your door and you need wave after wave to hold them off.

I lost. I'll have to stick with those notes in the future. Which is right now in Ultima Segmentum, so show up.
