What's B&B's biggest crime?
We all hate B&B for various and numerous. But what crime against Trek earned them your undying hatred?
For me it's got to be Kirk's death. They sullied the most macho man ever to grace Trek with a pointless and utterly wussy death. I mean come on. He should have gone down with his enemies crushed before him, the Ent-D dying around him in a noble last hurrah.
Instead he went down like a fucking pussy bitch! God damn it, he died in a death that would have embarrased a redshirt! I've never forgiven B&B for that!

He did manage to get the gadget and save Picard and Enterprise. I have no specific example of Berman and Braga's heresy. I simply am bored with recycled plots and the whole Time Travel™ deal.

But had Picard really thought about it he should have just gone back sooner and stopped Sorian without getting Kirk or lots of other people killed. Like I said, a pointless death.King Cosmos wrote:He did manage to get the gadget and save Picard and Enterprise. I have no specific example of Berman and Braga's heresy. Hence the problem with time travlel, but I think the whole idea was that Picard couldn't do it by himself and that is why he needed Kirk. Or, it was just a plot device. Overall, it didn't really bother me. I believe the original way he was supposed to have died was a shot in the back. People didn't like it at the screening so they went back and had a reshoot.

Don't insult Pinky's intelligence like that!!!
Hmm. I'd have to say "destroying the Enterprise". I could forgive them for that much. But to destroy it in the lamest battle sequence, EVER... grr.
Overall, it's the whole "obscure technobabble solution" mentality they seem to have. Better work has been shit down the toilet by high school students.

Why exactly did Picard need two people again? Show up on the planet with a phaser before everyone arrives, and when Soran beams down, shoot him! Say, what happened to the other Picard, anyway? You know, the one that was supposed to be trapped in the forcefield before planet go boom.
Fragment of the Lord of Nightmares, release thy heavenly retribution. Blade of cold, black nothingness: become my power, become my body. Together, let us walk the path of destruction and smash even the souls of the Gods! RAGNA BLADE!

Picard was sent down to the surface as an exchange for Geordi. Picard screwed up by himself and was caught in the Nexus and while in there he convinced Kirk to help him.Darth Yoshi wrote:Why exactly did Picard need two people again? B&B's biggest crime? TNG season 7. Ending a fairly decent Trek series with a pile of steaming crap that was never outdone until Voyager slimed its way onto the air. Everything after that was expected to be bad--but TNG had an established reputation for being at least half decent.
Second biggest crime? Voyager.

Sadly, they do have that right. It is their show legally. Kinda sad isn't it?
Forgive my ignorance, but exactly what positions do B&B hold?
What's her bust size!?

B&B's crimes
1. Living.
2. Turning ST into a pacifistic, technogarble, moralistic bunch of shit.
3. They hate the original series so much for its success, that they want to remake it in their image after GR died, and fuck with continuity every chance they get.
4. Having the creative properties of a bucket of mud.
5. Not knowing when to quit.

They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

B&B's biggest crime for me has to be Voyager, and in particular Capt. Lameway. Her pious moralizing just rubbed me the wrong way each and every episode. I particularly hated that episode when shes trying to stop that other feddie ship that is using the corpses of some type of alien to increase the output of there warp drives. In one bit shes prepared to nearly kill a captured crew man from said ship ( I think it was the equinox) just for infomation from him, I mean for fuck's sake!!!
I felt like putting a bullet between the eyes of every Panda that wouldn't screw to save its species.

Their biggest crime is turning all aliens into a monocultural joke with no thaught into how a society like could come about e.g the Ferengi's only loyalty to profit

I bet you the next fuck up they make willl be the end of them.Failed Glory wrote:Because every time I look Berman and Braga manage to outdo themselves, I think they're greatest crime against sci-fi is yet to come.

The constant Ret-conning they do.
I'm waiting for them to claim that Spock is really a Vulcan from the 32nd century to insure the downfall of the Klingon/Federation disputes and to begin the golden age of the TNG federation.

Yes, yes it does...but I believe someone should try to list the incosistencies they have done...big project but I think many would get a hoot of it all.

I would say their biggest crime is trying to run the ST franchise while simultaneously being completely talentless hacks. It's obvious that they'd love to have the kind of response to their ST that the original series got. The problem is, they are completely oblivious to what made the original series so great. Think about it, what did you see little or nothing of on TOS?
Treknology gone wrong stories - the E-nil never threatened to blow up when some shipboard system got a little out of adjustment.
Extreme over use of technobabble - Scotty just said things like: "I canna give ye more power Cap'n. The engines canna take the strain." He did not say things like: "We have a fluctuation in the matter/antimatter containment field, but if I just triaxillate the field emmitters and remodulate the phase inducers so that I can strengthen the annular confinement, I think I can prevent a warp core breach."
Marxian socialism presented to us as the blueprint for a perfect society - need I say more?
Monocultural, one-note caricature aliens - in TOS you see aliens display the full range of behavior.
Endless rehashings of the same plot - how many holodeck disaster stories did we see in TNG and beyond? How many other kinds of rehashes have B&B done? Lots.
The list goes on and on.
Berman and Braga would love to have their series be as well regarded as TOS was, and I suspect their actually scratching their heads and wondering why they haven't inspired the same reaction, what with special effects and sets so much better than TOS had. It's as though the only thing they could see from TOS was spaceships, aliens, and women in revealing outfits, so that's what they're giving us instead of good stories well told. Unfortunately for them, TOS gave us that, and they apparently lack the talent to do so.
